Last night Allison Williams walked the red carpet in NYC for the “GIRLS” Season 2 premiere and she looked as gorgeous as ever. I don’t think it’s possible for her to look anything but gorgeous! She wore an Altuzarra gold-embellished bustier top with scalloped embroidery and a black patchwork seamed skirt from their spring 2013 collection. She also had a little help from Celebrity Makeup Artist, Julie Harris, who created her look exclusively with CARGO Cosmetics.
Keep reading to find out how to get the look.
We haven’t had the pleasure of meeting cool Canadian chick and Stark Skincare Founder Jessica Lafleur in person, but we already know we want to be besties with her. We love her line of natural, organic skincare and the message it conveys: simplicity and purity. We also love her Pinterest boards, especially “My Man is Also My Living Doll, So?” Speaking of her man, she sent me her photo for this very post right here and the file name was called “MyLove.” It was from her husband’s computer. ADORABLE, right? We don’t know much about Mr. Stark Skincare, but we like him, too.
Jessica graciously let us peek into her makeup bag. She’s the ultimate expert in organic ingredients and natural skincare, so we were thrilled to see what products she uses on a daily basis. Read on to the end, because Jessica also is asking everyone reading for some very important makeup advice!
I love what Cargo has done with their Essential Palettes. They have released themed palettes for the last few seasons, it is no longer about the neutral eye, it’s now about the well coordinated eye. This past summer they released their Bronze palette (you can find a swatch of it here, it is gorgeous!) and now they have released their Cargo Essential Palette in Smokey Grey.
With each eyeshadow labeled for placement, you have a practically goof-proof smokey eye! This retails for $32.00 and you can find it at Ulta.
My Beauty VIP of the week is Cargo’s new Magic Brush. Ever since I picked it up a few weeks ago, we have been inseparable… inseparable I tell you! This brush has become indispensable to me since I bought it and has been in my makeup bag at all times since then. Let me tell you why…
I like to stipple on my powder foundation (right now that’s Becca Mineral Powder Foundation) so I have fuller coverage in certain areas and lighter coverage in others. This brush is absolutely perfect for this because it is dense enough to pack the powder on the skin without making skin look chalky and it is soft enough to really buff product on at the same time. Plus, the synthetic fibers in the brush act like a magnet to keep the loose or pressed powder, whatever it may be, on the brush and give skin that airbrushed look.
With this brush and the combination of products I’m using right now (more one that later), my skin has just been glowing lately. It’s not just my VIP of the week, it’s a permanent addition to my roster.
Are you obsessing over shimmery gold and silver eyeshadows for the holidays? I am too! This weekend I was at Sephora and Nordstrom trying to decide what I wanted. Then of course the shades I wanted were not in stock and I wasn’t about to order it online…. I wanted it right then and there. Then I stopped at Ulta and found Cargo’s Ulta exclusive City of Lights set. Check please!
I am loving the value with this set. Compared to the single eyeshadows I was about to pick up at Nordstrom, I got a lot more bang for my buck with this Cargo City of Lights set. Plus the eyeshadow and lipgloss quads are full sized. The cost of an individual Cargo quad is almost as much as this entire set.
Cost aside, I am loving the shades in this set as well. These are all very holiday party worthy shades. The Paris eyeshadow quad has gorgeous shimmering gold, silver, pewter and bronze eyeshadows… all well pigmented and pack a punch when applied wet. The Tijuana lipgloss quad has a nice range of shades; a sheer light pearly peach, a creamy dusty rose, a shimmering burgundy and a shimmering pink. Then there’s the silver… the Silver Boogie Nights eye pencil adds a little bit of sparkle to your eyes and the Face and Body Sparkle pen help take care of the rest.
Wouldn’t this set make a great gift? I took matters into my own hands and didn’t wait.
Now here’s a palette I’m excited about right now, Cargo’s The Runway Palette. Taking a turn from their usual eyeshadow and lip palettes, Cargo has released this limited edition palette exclusively at Sephora. The Runway Palette was inspired by the Fall 2009 runways and it definitely shows.
So what’s in this new palette? Everything you need to create Fall’s hottest looks:
- Essential Palette in Gray
- Blush in Big Easy, Rome, and Topeka
- Medium Bronzer
- 6 Button Eye Shadows in Emerald Green, Charcoal Blue, Shimmering Green-Gold, Golden Brown, Dusk Blue and Matte Purple
I love how the jewel tone eyeshadows look like buttons and the blushes and bronzers look like cable knit sweaters, it’s just so cute. I haven’t been able to check this palette out in person yet but I’m dying to get a look at it. I love their Essential palettes and one in Gray is just the ticket for this fall.
Have you picked up Cargo’s The Runway Palette? What did you think? Let us know in the comments.
I use to be anti-The Hills… I still am to a certain degree, I just can’t stand Heidi and Spencer Pratt. Once I started finally watching the show, I realized that Whitney Port is really just so sweet and charming that you can’t not love her.
Today we received the word from Cargo Cosmetics that a new face joined their PlantLove lineup. Whitney Port collaborated with Cargo to create her own signature shade of hot pink lipstick called “Eve Pinky“. Whitney’s creation will be available in Sephora stores and Sephora.com beginning next week.
And there’s more… like the other Cargo PlantLove products, they are eco-friendly but Eve Pinky does a little bit more. For every tube of Whitney’s Eve Pinky lipstick, $2 from every sale will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
If you haven’t tried Cargo’s PlantLove lipsticks, now is the time to try them. Have you tried them? What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
This past weekend I couldn’t think of anything I wanted from Sephora, I did my shopping with QVC’s It’s a Beautiful Day. Did you watch? What did you get? Let me know in the comments… Anyhoo, of course that’s just the way things are. When I’m not looking to spend money, I see things that peak my interest. I was just browsing Sephora’s website and I found a few things I thought were interesting including this 7-in-7 Kit from Cargo.
This kit includes 7 products to help you put on a face in 7 minutes so you can be out the door. Here’s a list of the products in this set:
- OneBase (concealer and foundation in one)
- Essential Palette
- Eye Pencil in Brown
- LashActivator mascara
- BeachBlush in Sunset Beach
- Reverse Lip Liner in 01
- Classic Lip Gloss with Timestrip Technology in Tobago
Instructions are also included to help you apply the products. The only drawback here is you have to have a light-medium skintone for these shades to work for you but let’s hope Cargo changes this the future. Update: Amelia let me know that this is indeed available in other tones. Thanks Amelia!
If Cargo’s 7-in-7 Kit isn’t on your shopping list already, consider adding it now! The Essential palette is fabulous (I have this in Warm/Neutral) and is a must have.
Have you ever reached for an old lipgloss only to find out it was past it’s prime when you went to use it? Cargo Cosmetics is introducing Timestrip Lip Glosses, the first lip gloss to tell you when it’s expiration date is.
Here’s an eco-friendly lipstick you can really love. It dresses up your lips and gives you a little something extra before you’ve even put it on! Cargo’s PlantLove lipstick features a compostable lipstick case that’s made of corn and you can plant the box and grow your very own wildflowers. What’s not to love here?
There is a variety of shades, some inspired by ecological beauty in Canada, Japan, Ireland, the Mediterranean, Africa, Himalayan highlands and North America then shades in collaboration with Hollywood beauties. Cargo collaborated with Angie Harmon, Kim Raver, Denise Richards, Evangeline Lily, Lindsay Lohan, Maria Menounos, Mariska Hargitay, Sarah Chalke and Courteney Cox to create their ideal lipstick shades. The newest shades are by Angie Harmon, Kim Raver and Denise Richards, which are inspired by their children.
The lipstick itself is fantastic, the formula is goes on smooth and creamy. It contains meadowfoam seed oil, jojoba and shea butter so it won’t leave your lips feeling dry. The shades I tried, Lola and Sagarmatha, are well pigments and wore really well. I still have color on my lips even after my lunch. As an added bonus, $2.00 from each tube sold is donated to St. Jude’s Pediatrics Research Hospital.
While you’re at it, plant a little love on your desktop! Cargo has some gorgeous desktop images inspired by the PlantLove lipsticks that you can dress your desktop up with. You can also plant a virtual flower!
