Last night I visited Nordstrom since I had dinner with family nearby and caught a glimpse of Butter London’s Fall/Winter 2011 collection. We’re seeing a lot of dark, vampy shades from some of the other brands for fall so I am appreciating some of the lighter, livelier hues in this collection.
Here’s each shade’s and description:
- Toff – a darker, dustier, brownish variation on a rose pink
- Wallace – a tarnished, metallic olive gold
- Bluey– a slightly metallic dark peacock blue
- Knees Up – a smashing metallic red
- No More Waity, Katie – soft greige with lilac glitter
If you remember, No More Waity, Katie was released in March prior to the royal wedding. Also, Wallce was introduced earlier this month as a Nordstrom exclusive. For me, this means I only have to scoop up a few more shades (Toff and Knees Up will be mine!)… I appreciate that and so does my wallet. 😉
Each shade retails for $14 and you can find them at Nordstrom and Ulta By the way… Nordstrom is doing Buy 2, Get 1 Free with Butter London and Deborah Lippmann on Saturday so it’s a great time to stock up! What shade are you picking up? Let me know in the comments.
Today we’re taking a look inside Nonie Creme’s makeup bag, Nonie is the founding creative director for Butter London. If you haven’t noticed, I’m a big Butter London fan and a big fan of Nonie’s in particular. The woman is just amazing, she’s super creative. Remember those nail polish rings from Vena Cava during Fashion Week in February? That was Nonie’s doing. She’s a staple at Fashion Week creating nail designs for Betsey Johnson, Victoria Beckham, Vena Cava and Alexander Wang. I had a chance to meet her last fall when Butter London debuted in Nordstrom and we chatted about the brand’s spring collection. She is really sweet and I love that she engages with Butter London’s followers on Twitter. It is obvious that she loves what she does and that kind of enthusiasm is contagious.
Keep reading to see what is in Nonie’s makeup bag in her own words.

I cannot tell you how OVER this royal wedding I am. I am so sick and tired of hearing about their little cottage, who’s attending the wedding and whatever else goes along with this event. Sorry, I could really care less about a royal wedding. I do make an exception for Butter London though because I’m a big fan of this hometown brand and now they’re introducing their first ever lip gloss.
If the nail polish was not enough, Butter London is launching their No More Waity Katie lip gloss this Friday on www.butterlondon.com, Nordstrom and other retailers. It was created by the amazing Nonie Crème to compliment the polish. It is a sheer lavender shade with tiny flecks of lilac glitter to make lips look fuller. The company tried to expand their range with a perfume oil last year (swoon!) but unfortunately that never made it to market so I’m excited to see this gloss. For here’s a swatch:
If you think a sheer lavender gloss is not for you, think again. Dominic with Stila used a shade like that on me once and it changed my mind forever. So come Friday, I’ll be hunting this down instead of sending in my taxes. 😉
Butter LONDON created a special shade in honor of the upcoming Royal Wedding, No More Waity, Katie. Aptly named, no? The official description for this polish is a soft, elegant greige with a splash of lilac glitter for the perfect marriage to combine fashion and fun. Sounds absolutely dreamy, doesn’t it? Well, for me, the actual product is straight-up purple. Which works out for a purple fan like myself.
To help bring out some of the grey, I first applied a coat of Essie Chinchilly. It definitely helped bring out the greige in this polish, and I only used two coats to finish it off. It’s pretty gritty, so a top coat was also needed. The end result is working for me though – I’m digging my blinged-out purple tips.
What’s everyone else thinking about No More Waity, Katie?
Our recap of the Best of 2010 continues with our favorite nail polishes of 2010. We were all over the board last year — glitters, smooth neutrals, bold colors, pastels. There were many amazing polishes and collections, and here are the ones that stood out the most to us.
Essie’s Resort Collection transported us to a five-star resort in the tropics with shades like “Turquoise and Caicos” and “Lapis of Luxury.” We loved every single one of these polishes, and the inclusion of the cement-like neutral Playa Del Platinum was like the tie that binds.

While it’s still Monday (at least in my time zone), I wanted to show you my current mani/pedi combo. This weekend I met the lovely Nonie Creme from Butter London at the Nordstrom Trend Show (more on that soon!) so naturally I wanted to wear shades from Butter London for the occasion. I chose Fash Pack for my nails and Minger for my toes.
Butter London describes Fash Pack as putty meets mushroom and that’s a great way to describe the color but what they don’t mention is that the shade also has a fine shimmer to it. It is a little deceiving and only noticeable in the bottle or in certain lighting. You can see a bit of that here. This is a great on-trend shade for the season.
Minger is on my toes, this is a shade from last year’s fall collection. This just screams pumpkins, doesn’t it? I think it’s fitting seeing as how October is just a few days away. It’s not a typical fall shade but I’m really liking it and can’t wait to try it on my fingernails.
How about you? What colors are you wearing on your tips and toes?
I’m in love with my nail color this week — Butter LONDON’s All Hail McQueen. It’s a gorgeous nude, with a beige base and silver sparkles that really lights up in the sun. Butter London Creative Director Nonie Creme designed this shade to pay homage to designer Alexander McQueen and it’s truly beautiful. Aside from the gorgeous color, I’m also a huge fan of this formula. I applied two coats and a layer of Seche Vite to lock it all in.
In other exciting news, Ulta is now carrying Butter LONDON. This is so beyond thrilling to me since the brand previously had limited distribution. Carla’s seriously spoiled in Seattle with easy access to these polishes. If you haven’t tried any Butter LONDON before, I recommend All Hail McQueen.
What are you wearing on your nails this Mani Monday?
Details of the new Butter London collection for Fall are in and I’m already excited about this collection. During Fashion Week this past February, we saw tweets from Creative Director Nonie Creme about the shades she was mixing backstage for shows and now we get to take them home.
“Buzzwords in nail trend for Fall 2010 are texture, depth, and layering“, says Creme. “At Alexander Wang we created a textured beige nail that was modern and sophisticated. Then the press went wild when I custom mixed Marrow at Vena Cava. It’s a deep, murky purple that suits any skin tone.” Um, yes… we did go wild over Marrow.
Let’s take a peek at the rest of the collection: Continue reading New! Butter London Fall 2010 Collection
This just in…Nonie Creme, Butter London’s creative director just announced on Twitter that the brand is coming out with new Luxury Lotions on April 1st. These new lotions are vegan and paraben free. I don’t know about you but I absolutely love Butter London and if they introduce something new, I’m all over it. After all, they are a local brand and I’m obligated to support them. 🙂
The new Luxury Lotions come in three scents: Country Garden (cut grass, earthy), Black Tea (sensual and uni-sex!) and Champagne (sweet, light, and clean). Isn’t the packaging great? I love the vibe Butter London has with it’s products. Nonie says the lotions are suprisingly light in texture but have a rich application. The lotion is fully absorbed in a few minutes and there’s no greasy film on your skin afterwards. She also says they make skin feel incredibly velvety.
Look for these on April 1st on butterlondon.com in 50ml ($10 each), and 200ml ($18 each) sizes.
