It’s Election Day and team Product Girl is urging you to get out there and exercise your right to vote! Whether you’re team “O-Bama Orange” or “Mint Romney” (according to Bliss’ eau-lection body lotions!), it’s important to be involved. And on the bright side, all of the political ads will be over come Wednesday. As someone who conducted exit polls for fun in college, I can’t wait to see the democratic process in action. My only gripe? I early voted and I didn’t get my sticker this year!
At midnight tonight, you can get my favorite Bliss product ever for a great price on QVC. The Bliss Poetic Waxing Kit with bonus Lemon + Sage Body Butter is QVC’s Today’s Special Value for tomorrow but you can order it now.
Without the body butter, the set usually retails for $45 but with the body butter this is a retail value of $73 for the sale price of just $36.42 plus tax, shipping and handling. It’s also available in 3 Easy Pay installments of $12.14, plus tax, shipping and handling.
I love this kit even more now because I can microwave the wax, it is stripless and it grabs on to everything. I also love the Super Skin Cleanser to clean skin prior to waxing and the Pre-and-Post Waxing Oil to soothe my skin afterward. I prefer wood disposable spatulas to the ones in this kit but the small plastic ones are great for eyebrows.
If you like to do your own waxing at home, try this kit out, I think you’ll love it as much as I do. I’m definitely ordering tonight!

Bliss hinted about this on Twitter and now their Bliss Eau de Toilette spray finally here. Ever since that tweet I’ve wondered if the scent would smell like my beloved Colette’s Black Musk perfume oil. Bliss founder Marcia Kilgore mentioned it as a fave in Lucky years ago so I hoped that Bliss would draw some inspiration from it. Maybe it did, just a little bit.
Right now Sephora has labeled this as Beauty Insider exclusive and describes the scent as an “uplifting, unique floral” with notes of bergamot, dewy greens, cucumber, lily, ylang yland and violet. So far, mama like. How about you? Here are a few more details from Sephora:
This “in-spa-rational” fragrance captures the essence of Bliss spas: the best possible feeling in the world. It’s a mood-boosting fragrance with a vibe that’s fresh, hip, and modern. This scent is light enough to spritz every day for a signature fragrance—but exceptional enough to wear on special occasions. A fabulous French perfumer and longtime Bliss client formulated this beautiful blend with notes of vibrant citrus and dewy greens.
Could the fabulous French perfumer be the same one behind Colette’s perfume oil? All I know is that I am very, very intrigued and want to get my hands on this new perfume ASAP!
For at home waxing, the Bliss Poetic Waxing Kit is my old trusted stand-by. I may try other products but I always come back to it. I love it so much that I have lost count of the number of times I’ve repurchased the kit… yes, it is that many. When I heard Bilss say on Twitter that there was a new and improved kit making its debut, I was ready to open my wallet and bust out the debit card.
While the wax formula is still the same, the big improvement in this kit is the cup. The cup is now microwavable so it is much easier and quicker. I cannot tell you how many times I have left my cup warming up in water bath and forgot about it… a few pans in the process. I’m dying to try this new cup.
The Poetic Waxing kit is an expensive in comparison to ones you may see out on the market but for me, it’s totally worth it. The wax is easy to remove and does not need strips plus I love the skin cleanser and waxing oil, totally soothing after waxing.
Now is a good time to pick this up for the first time or restock like I will be doing. Bliss is running giving shoppers 20% and free shipping for the next 4 days. Just enter code APRIL20 during checkout. I’m ordering… are you?
In the past few weeks, I’ve done a lot of packing and unpacking of boxes. While moving isn’t fun, it’s a good exercise in cleaning (or so I’m telling myself!) During the packing frenzy, I happened to uncover an abyss of beauty product samples. You know, the “three” from every online purchase at Sephora or the extras from the counters. I was a little ashamed to see so many samples untouched and forgotten. So I’ve vowed to start using them.
Out of the abyss arose Bliss’ Fabulous Foaming Face Wash. I can’t say I was particularly excited about it at first glance, but once this stuff met my face it was, well, fabulous. It’s got a delightful grit to it – an exfoliater that that consists of the finest particles. My face felt so clean and refreshed after just one use. I literally felt the dead skin come off of my face and didn’t have that dry, tight feeling afterwards. It was amazing.
All traces of makeup were erased and it is pretty gentle, despite the exfoliating properties. If you’re sensitive to fragrance, this may not be for you. It’s got Rose Hips leaf extract, chamomile and has a citrusy aroma. My skin is pretty sensitive, but surprisingly this didn’t bother my skin or my nose.
I’m quite smitten with this face wash and am going to see this sample through. The full-size retails for $22 – so we’ll see if I make an upgrade. This whole using samples might prove to be expensive if they all turn out as well as this! Any hidden treasures lying around in your home? Let us know!
Ouch. That’s pretty much all my cuticles have to say these days. They are dry, dry, dry – which leads to flaking, snags and general hand shame. You know what I’m talking about – you know your manicure looks terrible so you curl your fingers into your palms, hoping no one will notice. I’ve been slathering hand lotion on like crazy, but it’s just not doing the trick.
Bliss Manicure’s Best Friend is my new best friend. Bliss is renowned not only for their tongue-in-cheek approach to spa treatments but also for the serious thought and quality that goes into each and every one of their products.
Bliss Manicure’s Best Friend comes in a slim, portable tube – perfect for tucking into pants pockets, purses – anywhere you and your hands are going to be. To make the most of the ultra-hydrating properties of the product, I wash my hands with lukewarm water, dry lightly and then pipe a line of cream around each of my nail beds. I let it soak in for a moment and then rub the rest into my cuticles. They wind up feeling soft, smooth, and hydrated. The formula has a slight lemony scent to it – although certainly not overpowering. It’s light and fresh – which is exactly how your hands will end up feeling.
I just spent the night with a new friend, Softening Socks from Bliss. I was in a bad mood last night and I decided to treat myself to these socks that I had been eying every time I set foot in Sephora.
These socks are different from your normal pair of moisturizing socks because they are gel lined and this actually traps the moisture in while you wear them. I slathered my feet with Philosophy’s Soul Owner and hung out for awhile. The directions say you can wear them for 20 minutes to use them as a treatment or you can wear them overnight so I slept in them. When I took them off earlier this morning, my feet actually looked a bit like prunes. That just goes to show how powerful these socks actually are, 20 minutes was really all I needed. It is a bit awkward to walk in these socks, I kept thinking I was going to slip and fall but what’s a little risk in exchange for soft, lovable feet? I didn’t buy the co-ordinating Softening Sock Salve, I figured I had spent enough on this product already but I am sure that any variety of moisturizer would work in combination with these socks.
If I were to nitpick and find a complaint about this product, it would be it’s price tag. This is why I waited so long before actually buying these socks. If I had enough patience to order something online and wait for it to arrive, I might have actually tried GeLuscious Booties instead. This product is half the price and I suspect it works the exact same way.
