As we continue our wrap-up of the best of beauty in 2010, we wanted to share the products we think made our faces look flawless and brighter this past year. These are tried and true, and will stick with us as we enter 2011.
MAC Pro Longwear Concealer – This just may be my favorite concealer ever. I love the consistency, the wear, the fact that it doesn’t crease (at all) and that it covers any imperfection on my face. I also love the price. I’ve been stockpiling a few shades so I always have a good color match.
Benefit Girl Meets Pearl – Highlighter junkies are we, and Girl Meets Pearl was a welcome surprise. It’s a rosy gold that melts into the skin in a very natural way. While it’s a rock star any way you use it, Carla really liked to wear this under a dusting of powder for that lit-from-within glow.
Bobbi Brown Nectar Shimmer Brick – We really enjoyed the coral trend this spring, and Bobbi’s Nectar Shimmer Brick stands out in a big way. It’s the perfect coral with a touch of pink. It’s more than just a highlighter, but a beautiful shimmering blush.
MAC Joie de Vivre Cremeblend Blush – More on the aforementioned coral trend. I liked all of the creme blushes in MAC’s Lillyland collection, but Joie de Vivre delivered the perfect pinky-coral cheek. In fact, Joie de Vivre and Bobbi’s Nectar Shimmer Brick were perfect mates all spring for me. Love this blush. Hope we see more Cremeblends in 2011, MAC.
Becca Mineral Powder Foundation – Carla saw this at the Makeup Show in May and couldn’t pass it up. Becca’s known for their foundation and this pressed mineral foundation is compact and super portable plus it leaves skin looking like actual skin with medium coverage. She loves that it makes her skin glow without the shimmer.
Tarte Matte Waterproof Park Ave Princess Bronzer – Tarte’s classic Park Ave Princess bronzer got even better with the release of the Matte version this summer. I use this pretty much every day, and have also used this on many other people. It’s the perfect bronzer to contour the skin with, and Tarte certainly knows how to package a product.
If you’re not following Becca Cosmetics on Twitter, you’re really missing out! Last week the brand tweeted a few sneak peeks into their Prairie Moon fall 2010 collection. The collection features the new limited edition Prairie Moon Palette, new Eye Tint in Pewter, new Beach Tint in Fig and Sheer Tint Lip Colour in Oleysa.
Born under a new moon and windswept, grassy plains, the mysterious new collection from BECCA evokes the spirit of the wild-at-heart.Dusty rose cheeks and caramel lips are eclipsed by stormy eyes, darkened with tones of the moonlight prairie.
Just by these images alone, I’m on board. This is all the information I have right now but it looks like there’s a little gray and perhaps some khaki green in there, shades that I love working with in the fall… and the Beach Tint, I can’t get enough of those. Any time there is a new shade, I go into “gotta have it” mode.
p.s. You can get 25% off at Becca right now, check out Daily Candy for more info.
Since reconnecting with Becca, I have realized that I am a total idiot for not getting on board the Becca Beach Tint trainer earlier. This is a prime example of how my anti-online shopping rule has failed me.
Becca’s Beach Tint is not like most of the stains I have tried. It’s a creme stain so it has a bit of opacity to it, something I didn’t expect when I first tried it but have now come to love. It seems to even out any discoloration I have on my lips and just leaves them with a rosy pink matte tint. In my eyes, this is the stain equivalent of a matte lipstick only I can wear it on my cheeks… and let me tell you, it blends fabulously.
So how does it wear? A single application will last me most of the work day. It does lose some color with eating and drinking during the day but I think that’s to be expected since it is a creme. I’ve found I can leave work with at least some color on my lips. It is a tad drying but applying a lip balm before the tint definitely helps. The formula reminds of me of those long wearing lip colors we’ve all tried only Becca’s Beach Tint doesn’t this one doesn’t flake off my lips. Only downside I’ve experienced is the formula seems to separate a bit but if you shake the tube up a bit, problem solved.
Right now Becca has 3 shades available: Watermelon, Peach and Raspberry (which is sold out everywhere and that drives me crazy because I can’t get it). This summer Becca will be introducing 2 additional shades in Strawberry and Grapefruit, which I’m sure I will love just as much as the two I already have. Also, each shade actually smells like the fruit they are named after, isn’t that cute?
Have you tried a Becca Beach Tint? What do you think? Are you loving them as much as I am? Let us know all about it in the comments.
Becca Cosmetics and I have been reconnecting lately. Right before I left for New York Fashion Week, I found a local store carrying the Becca line and then later during Fashion Week I met a few people from Becca at the Hautelook suite. I think this means we’re meant to be friends. At least my wallet thinks so because I did some hauling while I was in New York.
Becca is going through a bit of an overhaul right now, some products have been discontinued to make room for new ones, but what is in store for us is great. They are introducing some new lip color (say hello to 2 new Beach Tint shades!) and a new palette for summer, the Bombora palette.
Like it’s Showgirl palette predecessor, the Bombora Palette is a multi-tasker perfect for summer. It features:
- Lip Gloss: Mai Tai (sheer peach nude)
- Lip & Cheek Crème: Bougainvillea (peach/pink)
- Highlighting Crème: Mazu (sheer gold)
- Compact Eyeliner (with shimmer): Raffia (turquoise)
- Compact Eyeliner (with shimmer): Sunburst (glistening yellow/gold)
- Dual Ended professional brush
Since it’s all about the turquoise this summer, these eyeliners will be perfect for the season. It feels good to be reunited with Becca and I can’t wait to see this one in person. How about you?
