Bath & Body Works Revamps P.S. I Love You into a Spring Fling

Bath and Body Work’s newest scent P.S. I Love You Spring Fling is one that I can commit to. A younger, flirtier version of P.S. I Love You, Spring Fling is more rosey, less perfumey and contains subtle hints of citrus and melon making for a much lighter scent. I work very close to a Bath & Body Work’s, so I ventured out for a lunch trip last week and picked up the shower gel. I think I’ll go back and pick up the fragrance mist as well – this is just one of those scents that feels so fresh and romantic. P.S. — I love it!

Product Girl 2009 Favorite Beauty Products – Bath, Body & Fragrance

To wrap up our favorite products for 2009, we’re reviewing our picks for bath and body and perfume.

Lisa Hoffman was high on our list of favorites this year, I happen to be obsessed with everything Lisa Hoffman now thanks to my love of her Madagascar Orchid Variations. Lisa Hoffman Bath Soak is a bath experience. To soak in a tub with her bath soak to love her. The same Madagascar Orchid scent is in this product and it is such a beautiful scent.

The La Mer Body Refiner is smooth skin in a tube. It is infused with diamonds and exfoliates the skin without being harsh. Plus is smells amazing, it has a completely refreshing scent for the shower. It is definitely pricey but I loved my sample so much that I went out and splurged on a tube of this.

Anyone with dry feet knows the “slather in vaseline and put on some socks” trick for softer feet but that doesn’t last very long. I don’t know about you but laying on thick layers of vaseline on a daily basis doesn’t appeal to me. With Barielle Total Foot Care Cream, I put the Vaseline behind me this year. It is effective without having to lay it on thick and does wonders for my heels.

Bath & Body Works Triple Moisture Shower Cream is exactly what it sounds like – moisturizing as can be. This may be B&BWs best formulation yet. Laurie’s a huge fan of this lotion-esque body wash and is currently housing the Twilight Woods scent in her shower.

Both a good buy and a fantastic formula, Vaseline Sheer Infusion was a great new product of ’09. It has multiple layers of moisture (they call it Stratys 3) and absorbs really deeply into the skin. We’re a fan because it doesn’t leave our skin with a thick feeling but has the benefits of a deep moisturizer. The Mineral Renewal is our top pick!

Being musk lovers, Tom Ford White Suede was an immediate hit with us. The whole Tom Ford Private Blend White Musk collection is just beautiful but White Suede is our favorite. We’ll take a closer look at that one soon… I promise.

Yves Saint Laurent Parisienne makes us feel all warm and sultry. This floral features blackberry, rose and sandalwood notes for just the right amount of mystery. It’s completely feminine and totally seductive, just like Paris.

When Kenzo takes one of their best sellers and puts a twist on it, we’re all for it and Kenzo Amour Florale is just such a perfume. The original KenzoAmour is warm and sexy but Kenzo changed it up a little bit. KenzoAmour Florale was introduced with notes of neroli, grapefruit and black currant providing the burst of freshness we were looking for.

Is it the gorgeous bottle or the gorgeous perfume? Well, it’s actually both. Marc Jacobs Lola is a warm floral that Laurie instantly fell in love with at first glance and sniff.

We love Philosophy’s State of Grace perfumes and we loved seeing them add a new perfume to their line of fragrances. Philosophy Unconditional Love is a great addition to their fragrances. If you ask us, the fruitiness in Unconditional Love is just what they needed in their line up.

So that’s it! I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing our favorite beauty products from 2009. We’ll be back next year with more of our favorites. ;) We’re excited by all the new collections we’re seeing so 2010 looks like it will be a great year. What have been some of your favorite products this year? We want to hear all about it in the comments.

Beauty Stocking Stuffers

If I were to only receive one gift each year at the holidays, it would be a stocking. That’s sort of a trick answer since stockings are filled with tons of goodies…but no need to get technical here! My mom used to (and still does) give the best stockings. Everything from socks to nail polish to candy and jewelry. I just love getting ‘em and filling ‘em for others.

Here are some beauty stuffers I’ll be putting in stockings this year (or asking for in mine!)

Korres-Lip-Butter

Korres lip butters get a lot of buzz in the beauty circles and for good reason. They smell great (Jasmine is my fav!), impart a little color and are so luxe and soft on the lips.

True-Blue-Just-A-Minute

Available at Bath & Body Works, this orange scented, sugar-based exfolilating scrub works wonders on your hands in under a minute. I think I first tried this item after I got it as a stocking stuffer – and I’ve been hooked since.

OPI-Ornament-For-You-Holiday-2009

OPI has a ton of great holiday gift sets featuring their beautiful “Holiday Wishes” color collection. There are three different variations of this set, Orna-ment for you, and it’s completely adorable. (Hint, hint…anyone reading this that stuffs my stocking?!) I’ve seen these at Ulta, but I think they’re disappearing fast and furiously.

MAC-Hocus-Focus-Colorful-Face-Kit

The face kits that MAC released with their holiday collection this year are so cool. They feature a blush, a highlight and a beauty powder. I actually put this on my Christmas list to my husband’s parents!

Sephora-Film-Noir-Makeup-Case

Makeup bags! Specifically the Film Noir Ivory Diamond bags from Sephora. One of my favorite makeup bags ever is the Sephora clutch and this pattern and style is so glam. It comes in red and black too!

What’s your stocking stance? Any stuffers on your wish list/give list that you want to share? The more ideas the merrier!

November's Flavor of the Month: Pumpkin

Product-Girl-Pumpkin-Picks

Right now we’re all about the pumpkin here at Product Girl so we thought we’d share pumpkin-inspired picks for the month.

 • MyChelle Incredible Pumpkin Peel – this organic peel does wonders for your skin! It is a pumpkin, pineapple and ginger puree means business as it exfoliates skin and dissolves all the impurities away. For me, this stuff seriously rivals ExfoliKate and it is easier on my wallet.
 • Desert Essence Organics Pumpkin Hand Repair Cream – how often do you see a pumpkin scented hand cream? Never! I love the scent, it’s not overly sweet or spicy, it’s just natural…. just pumpkin with a hint of spice for good measure. After all, what’s pumpkin without cinnamon? This line’s hand cream is fantastic. The thin, creamy texture is absorbed instantly into the skin and does not leave hands feeling greasy whatsoever. Plus, with continued use, the condition of the skin improves over time.
 • Slatkin & Co. Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin Home Fragrance Oil – again, what is pumpkin without cinnamon? I love the oils at Bath & Body Works to give my apartment a little ambiance and this one is a great one for fall and winter. Plus the scent is currently available in other products such as diffusers, wall plugins, candles and even bath and body products. I prefer the home fragrance oils because it lasts longer and it fills up a room better.
 • Philosophy Pumpkin Spice Muffin Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath – Philosophy’s shower gels are a bath ritual for Laurie and this scent smells like a pumpkin pie baking right in your bathroom, yum! And the lip gloss, well that’s like eating pumpkin pie. Even better…
 • Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte – We love Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Lattes! They may be the forgotten latte now, given the red cups have pushed them out of the way but fear not, they still make them!

What are your favorite pumpkin products? Tell us about it in the comments. And pumpkin pie doesn’t count… we all love pumpkin pie. :)

Bath & Body Works Goes Tropical

Last week my friend gave me a small votive candle from Slatkin and Co. in Coconut Rice. I’ve been burning it practically every night since then and I still have 1/4 of the candle left. Burning this candle peaked my curiosity for the rest of the Slatkin and Co. line considering how it burned so evenly and the yummy scent filled my living room. Luckily, I didn’t have to go very far, Slatkin and Co. just released their spring collection for Bath and Body Works and it’s smells heavenly.

Slatkin and Co. Tropical Bath and Body Works Candles

This new spring collection from Slatkin and Co. for Bath and Body Works features tropical fruits and flowers with scents like Pinepple Orchid, Tropical Orange Flower, Tropical Sorbet and Melon Sorbet. From left to right, Pineapple Orchid is first. The combination of pineapple, jasmine and orchid is gorgeous, it’s not overpowering at all. This one was my favorite out of all the new scents. Tropical Sorbet combines coconut and pineapple with a mixture of caramel and praline. I wasn’t able to smell this one but it sounds so good. Then there’s Tropical Orange Flower, it combines orange blossom, sugarcane, pineapple and mandarin. Isn’t the retro bowl adorable? Finally, Melon Sorbet features cantaloupe, peach, vanilla bean and banana.

If candles aren’t your thing, you might want to try the room sprays or the home fragrance oils. I’m having a hard time deciding but even if I don’t get all of these candles, I’ll definitely be trying the home fragrance oils. At $4 each right now, it’s hard to pass up.

Simmer This

While this isn’t really beauty product, it’s a product I’ve been enjoying for some time now. A few drops of this and your home will smell amazing.

Bath and Body Works Oil Warmer Bath and Body Works introduced their oil warmers and oils some time ago and ever since, have been expanding their oil offerings to include all of their best selling and newer scents. Their oil warmers and oils are a great, inexpensive way to liven up your home’s ambiance. This set here is a good way to get your feet wet with oil warmers as it includes the warmer and an oil, Warm Vanilla Sugar. I’ve been simmering a mixture of this and Moonlit Path. The floral hints of lavender, roses, violets and musk are fantastic with a bit of vanilla thrown in.
