New for Fall! Bobbi Brown Black Velvet Collection

Bobbi Brown’s rolling out fierce and fearless this fall with her new Black Velvet Collection. But in true Bobbi fashion, this collection is about translating sooty and goth to real life. The secret? Bobbi infused plum, cherry and maple tones with black and gave them a translucent texture. The output is strong and powerful, but completely wearable. Here’s the product lineup:

First the eyes — our favorite part of this collection! Bobbi introduced seven eyeshadows in three different finishes.

Black Charcoal and Black Chocolate Eye Shadows ($20) – Bobbi’s original silky-matte formula in two nearly black shades. Bobbi does matte very well.

Black Berry, Black Cocoa, Black Charcoal Metallic Eye Shadow ($20)This is another fantastic formula of Bobbi’s, although these specific metallic shadows have a slightly chunkier texture than usual.

Black and Black Velvet Sparkle Eye Shadow ($24) – These are the – so much shimmer, so creamy, so easy to use. It’s Bobbi’s “grown-up” take on glitter.  And they are limited edition, so snatch them up while you can!

Black, Black Chocolate and Black Plum Kohl Eyeliner ($20) – These kohl liners join the Sparkle Eye Shadows in the limited edition category. They’re very creamy and easy to blend – but to prevent unintentional smudging, these are best used layered or for an all-out smokey look. They’re not going to give you the precise, long-wear of the gel liners.

And now for the lips. Bobbi introduced half a dozen lip colors to accompany the Black Velvet eye and I promise you there’s something for everyone in here. At first glance, they are dark and perhaps familiar to collections of seasons’ past but the translucency makes them  wearable and not so vampy.

Black Mahogany and Black Cherry Creamy Lip Color ($22) – This is probably my favorite Bobbi lip formula. It’s conditioning and moisturizing, like a glossy lipstick without an overally glossy look.

Black Maple and Black Raspberry Lip Color ($22) – Bobbi’s original lip formula that combines rich color with a soft matte finish. If you’re into the Black Velvet lip look – here’s your statement colors.

Black Garnet Metallic Lip Color ($22) – Bobbi’s metallic lip colors have medium coverage and light-reflecting pearls to give that multi-dimensional shimmer.

Black Chocolate Lip Gloss ($20) – Sheer is the name of the game here. Black Chocolate is easy to wear on its own but also perfect for layering over a lipstick. And note, this one’s limited edition.

Disclosure: We received samples of the swatched shades.

  1. I really love BB products. They are expensive but you really only need a few things and they tend to last a long time. As dark as some of this looks, I’ve been around the block with BB enough to know that it won’t look overly strong on my face. This make up is never a mask or flashy. It’s just supposed to brighten you a little.. I really like it for daytime. Save the flash for PM.

  2. Astrorainfall (OMG your name is right on target for me today.. Central Texas is flooding!)

I agree. People who haven’t tried Bobbi Brown pass it over as boring, those that know about the brand love it.

  3. Stay dry JoElla!!

I will say there is nothing boring or understated about the Sparkle eye shadows!! I think they get overlooked but they are so stunning. I like that there’s little fallout so your face doesn’t end up being a glitterfest. Can’t wait for Bobbi’s holiday offerings. They’re always among the best:)
