Five Bronzers to Use All Summer

Happy Memorial Day! Hope you’ve all had a fabulous weekend. We’re taking a break from our holiday to report on one of the most important summer beauty topics, bronzer. We firmly believe that every woman needs a bronzer wardrobe for summer. No other beauty product gets as much mileage for me from now until Labor Day. Largely because the actual sun does not actually darken my skin — no, no, not going to let that happen. And I like options. Here are the five that are ruling my makeup bag this summer.

Swatches L-R: Jouer Sheer Bronzing Tint, Vapour Organics Solar Translucent Bronzer, MAC Pro Longwear Bronzer in Nude on Board, Becca Bolero Blush, Laura Mercier Sheer Crème Colour in Copper Glow Veil.

Jouer Sheer Bronzing Tint is the bronzer I use when I want to tint my makeup or mix in with my moisturizer for an all-over bronze tint. It’s incredibly versatile in that way and blends into my skin just like Jouer’s Luminizing Moisture Tint. It’s super sheer and a true brown bronze — no orange undertones in sight. Look for vitamins A, C and E, SPF 15 and a side of chamomile extract which make this formula even more awesome.

Opt for natural only? Regardless, Vapour Organics Solar Translucent Bronzer is a must! Its 100% natural formula, with 70% certified organic ingredients and 30% minerals and vitamins, gives a healthy looking glow. The shade Mirage is more of a golden bronzer and nourishes the skin while giving it a sunkissed look thanks to antioxidants pomegranate, green tea and acai berry. That not enough? It also moisturizes skin with shea butter. Take that, real sun.

From the second I spotted the nautical compact of Pro Longwear Bronzing Powder in the MAC Hey, Sailor collection, I knew it would be a staple product for me. Everything Pro Longwear I seem to love — the Concealer especially. This bronzer, in shade “Nude on Board,” is like silk on the skin. It melds with my skin and gives a soft effect. I can build the color intensity up as well and it doesn’t look like product is sitting on my skin. This is an A+ bronzer — snag it before its gone.

Becca Mineral Blush in Bolero isn’t actually a bronzer at all, but it seems to behave like one on my skin. Bolero, compared to the other four bronzers, has more of a pink tone, and it reads on the skin as a rosy bronzer. It’s one of those shades that I could wear every day with anything because it is so flattering. One tip though, don’t wave your brush in this compact — just a tap is all you need. It is crazy pigmented!

And a personal favorite that I cannot resist, Laura Mercier Sheer Creme Colour in Copper Glow Veil. You may recall the three Sheer Creme Colours that launched earlier this spring, and Copper Glow Veil is similar in that in gives skin a “Bonne Mine” (a.k.a. “healthy glow”) effect. Love the cream-to-powder finish and the deep penny color.

With those five, you’re all set. Let us know how you’re bronzing this summer!
