Make Up For Ever is all about the shine and glowing skin right now and I am loving it! How about you? Their new Uplight Face Luminizer Gel is making its way to a Sephora display near you very soon (if it hasn’t arrived already) and is available online now. Uplight is available in dewy, pearly and sparkling finishes to highlight and sculpt skin for a radiant complexion that can be applied anywhere on the face and body. It has an oil-free formula that is composed of more than 70% water and has mango butter to nourish skin.

Lisa Hoffman’s Japanese Arganwood Body Wash is my bath time indulgence. I have been using this body wash very sparingly because I don’t want to think about being without it. I’ve had a sample of this for at least a year now and I treat it like I do my Kerastase products, it is for special occasions or pick me ups only. This week I’ve used it almost every day and it has brightened my morning every time.
Lisa Hoffman’s Japanese Arganwood is a beautiful scent with notes of bergamot, ginger and amber in it. Sometimes when I’m using it, if I close my eyes, I envision myself showering in an orchard with the sun beaming down all around me. Yes, that’s a weird thought to have in the shower but it smells that good. It’s a gel formula so it is not particular creamy or nourishing but I’m so in love with its fragrance that I don’t mind that at all.
The brand has revamped it’s bath and body offerings lately, which I think was a smart move. You may this product by its previous name of Spa Shower Cleansing Gel. Before this change, products were in the Spa Shower and Spa Bath categories and it was a little confusing, now they are categorized by their fragrance. The packaging has also improved, no more annoying pump, now you can quickly squeeze out exactly what you need.
I love this stuff, just as I love everything else I’ve tried from Lisa Hoffman. The woman can do no wrong in my eyes. Have you ever tried her line? What did you think?
You’ve probably guessed by now that I’m very much the last minute shopper when it comes to gifts. For Mother’s Day this year, I have some last minute gift ideas that I would give my own mother. Except I’m not telling you what I got my mother, she might be reading!
I have to tell you, I feel a little guilty that my mother has a beauty blogger for a daughter and she has yet to use a Clarisonic so I’ve been debating getting her one just because. This is the one I’ve been thinking about giving her. Isn’t this Clarisonic Mia in Tangerine adorable? I am smitten. This set makes a fantastic gift. It comes with a normal and sensitive brush head, Clarisonic’s Gentle Hydro Cleanser and charge in a floral print bag that is perfect for spring and Mother’s Day. This set retails for $149.00.

I am a big fan of lip scrubs, keeping my lips smooth and flake free for whatever lipstick shade seems to brings out the worst in my lips, is an obsession of mine. I have a quite a few of these but I usually reach for the ones that have a stronger grit to them, the ones that really go to work on my lips are my favorites.
Sara Happ’s The Lip Scrub has been out for ages but the $24 price tag kept me away for a long time. When I finally bit the bullet and gave in to the price tag, I found a lip scrub that is rich, gritty and effective. One of my pet peeves with some lip scrubs is texture. Some do not have enough grit to them, there’s too much oil or a carrier in them to use the sugar crystals effectively but that’s not the case with Sara Happ’s Lip Scrub. What you get is a dense paste with plenty of brown sugar to take care of flaky lip syndrome and keep it in check for good. A pot has 30ml of product and this scrub is now available in 6 other flavors.
On the right you have Lush’s Sweet Lips Lip Scrub retailing for $8.95 a pot. While it has slightly less product, it also costs much, much less and is just as effective. It does not have the same paste link consistency as Sara Happ’s Lip Scrub but it has a healthy dose of castor sugar crystals to keep lips soft and smooth just as well. I actually reach for this one more often than the other because Lush’s Lip Scrub is not as dense and spreads a little easier on the lips. Lush also has two other flavors available; Mint Julip and Bubble Gum, both of which I have just in case I feel the urge to mix it up a little.
Both of these lip scrubs are fantastic and are both eligible for holy grail status. I will tell you this, I do reach for these Lush lip scrubs more often simply because I do not worry about replacing them since they are much cheaper. I do understand that sometimes a splurge is necessary though. Either way, you’re in good hands with these lip scrubs.
Every spring Kiehl’s has a new environmental project that continues their commitment to give back to the community and bring attention to environmental issues. This year the brand celebrates its 160th anniversary and they collaborated with the incredible Michael C. Hall (Dexter anyone?) and Chloë Sevigny to design labels for a limited edition Rare Earth Cleansing Masque that supports the Waterkeeper Alliance. You may remember previous collaborations with Julianne Moore, Pharrell Williams, Jeff Koons and Erykah Badu. With each purchase of this limited edition labelled Rare Earth Cleansing Masque, 100% of the net proceeds will go to Waterkeeper Alliance. As the daughter of a fisherman, protecting our waters is something that’s important to me.
If you have not tried the Rare Earth skincare line yet, this is a great time to try it. As a gal with oily skin who is not a fan of her pores, this product line targets them to pull all the toxins and gunk out of your pores. What’s not to love?
I have a really fun giveaway for you this week. The movie Bridesmaids is coming to a theatre near you on May 13th and from now until then, enter to win your own “Ladies Night Out” survival kit! The kit includes a mesh bag filled with lip balm, mints, comb/mirror, nail files, a shot glass engagement ring and a $50 Visa cash card to spend on your “Ladies Night Out”.
I had a chance to see the movie last week and let me tell you, it is hilarious. I have not laughed that much in a movie in a long, long time. Kristen Wiig is adorable and hilarious but Melissa McCarthy (from Mike & Molly on CBS) is everything. If you’re a fan of Judd Apatow’s work, I think you’ll like Bridesmaids. Make sure you go see with your girlfriends, a good time will be had by all! In the meantime, check out the trailer for the movie here.
I work in an office mostly filled with men, men who work in the construction industry and they usually do not pay attention to things such as makeup, hair or nails. The men in my office must be a special breed because they notice things like changes in my eyebrows, hair color and last week – nails. I kid you not, I got 3 comments on last week’s Chanel Mimosa nails. This week I decided to go a little tamer and I used Ginger + Liz’s Not on the First Date, it was part of a set I got on Hautelook recently. Two of the shades in the set were not my cup of tea but this one I definitely got on board with.
Not on the First Date is a great mix of “greige” and lavender with some micro glitter thrown in for a little iridescence. If you liked Rescue Beauty Lounge’s Insouciant but wanted something lighter, this shade is perfect for you. It’s very neutral but totally chic and elegant, it is very work appropriate. Two coats of this shade and I had the completely opaque color as seen here without any application issues. I have to say this, this just might be my new favorite neutral shade. I’m curious if the guys will comment on this shade.
