What's in Her Makeup Bag with Nordstrom's Cheri Botiz

Today we’re taking a peek inside Nordstrom’s National Beauty & Fragrance Director (otherwise known as my dream job) Cheri Botiz’s makeup bag.

Nordstrom is like my home away from home, I go there when I’m happy, I go there when I’m sad. You probably already know this but my idea of a good time is going to Nordstrom and sitting in someone’s chair having my makeup done or playing with makeup. Naturally, I was very excited to be able to show you this peek into Cheri’s makeup bag.

Can you imagine what a day in her life must be like? I daydream about it all the time! She could quite possibly be enjoying some of July’s anniversary sale exclusives as we speak. ūüėČ

Have you tried Fresh’s Tinted Lip Treatments yet? I’m excited about this new shade, it is much more “me” then the other shades.

Coming Soon: MAC Surf Baby Collection

This new MAC Surf, Baby collection is changing my mind about summer collections. I’m more of a fall collection kind of gal but lately all I can think about is being out in the sunlight and feeling the warmth on my skin. Not because I want to tan, but mainly because I’m tired of the cold and the rain! When this collection comes out, at least I can fake some sun-kissed skin.

SURF, BABY! Grab the board, hop in the Jeep, quench your lips in Krazy Kahuna, cruise the Pacific Coast Highway‚ĶSurf‚Äôs up! The lure of the endless summer starts here with a Colour Collection that captures the spirit of a subculture obsessed by wild encounters with waves: Freedom, escapism and individual expression‚Ķwhere stylish survival meets grace under pressure and artistic invention. Surf Baby! Beaded and bearded beach boys strum their love in surf shacks and bikini-babes bring commotion to the ocean with My Paradise cheek powder, a Summer Stash of Crushed Metallic Pigments, Hibiscus Lipstick and ride the curl in Splashproof Lash Mascara that won’t smudge in the surf. Colourful lustrous, and full of life…journey to a world where feeling the rush means taking a risk. Hang Ten!

Surf, Baby! Bronzing for every dude and dudette looking to hit the half-pipe with a killer (but totally harmless) tan. In between surf sessions, live barefoot and sand-caked, your skin sun-kissed by Solar Riche Bronzing Powder and brushed in Gold-go-Lightly with our NEW Studio Careblend/Pressed Powder. Capture the surf spirit with the NEW Skinsheen Bronzer Stick, sculpting and contour-creating, adding dimension in a way that a flat-out tan can’t! Defy sun-and-sea blasted lips with Full of Grace, Pink Tinge and Lilt of Lily, three Suntints SPF 20 Liquid Lip Balms. A LIMITED- EDITION, way epic collection for beach bums and babes of all ages, all races and all sexes.

Here’s what is in this collection:

  • Naturally Eccentric – creamy white nude (Lustre)
  • Hibiscus – bright orange coral (Cremesheen)
  • Bust Out! – dirty mid-tone violet (Lustre)
  • Mocha – peachy yellow-brown (Satin)

Make Up For Ever Lab Shine Collection

Have you checked out the new Make Up For Ever Lab Shine glosses yet? MAKE UP FOR EVER introduced their Lab Shine glosses in February and I have been loving them since then, I’ve just been a bad beauty blogger and neglected to tell you about them until now. Bad Carla!

These new glosses come in a whopping 35 shades in three different collections: Diamond, Star and Metal.  All them deliver on shine and color. The Diamond collection has 12 shades and is formulated with their Diamond Powder to provide transparent, natural looking color with shimmering, glittery shine. The Star Collection has 14 shades and is blended with Star Powder for an iridescent mother-of-pearl finish. Finally the Metal Collection features 9 shades and has their Metal Powder blended in it for an intense chrome, mirror finish.

Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Mascara = Extremely Natural Fringe

I am sure that there are¬†countless “that’s what she said” jokes to be made here, but honestly, I think I’ve finally come across a mascara wand that is too big. Estee Lauder’s Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara is definitely in the extreme category when it comes to wand¬†length. But the twist here is the natural, subdued effect this mascara has on lashes is anything but extreme.

Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme (L) and Chanel Inimitable Intense (R)

To give you a sense of scale, I put Sumptuous Extreme next to Chanel Inimitable Intense, my current¬†favorite mascara. As you can see, Sumptuous Extreme could eat my Inimitable Intense for breakfast. But you know the old adage ladies, bigger is not always better. Rather, it’s¬†how your wand works¬†your¬†lashes.

For me, Sumptuous Extreme gave an incredibly natural effect. It lengthened and separated fairly well, but didn’t wow me in the lash multiplying and volumizing department. The formula was soft and gentle on lashes, never flaking and easily removed. I also tested this in Extreme Indigo and found I preferred the natural effect it gave me when color was involved. For those that prefer natural-looking lashes, this could work.¬†It’s¬†available in four shades total, including Violet and Brown.

While the extreme effect wasn’t quite enough for me, I can honestly say this is the largest mascara wand I’ve ever used. And I lived to tell! Now go ahead, crack jokes in the comments:)

It's a Yes to Blueberries Eye Firming Treatment and Skin Repair Serum

Blueberries¬†are known to be a¬†great brain-boosting¬†food.¬†¬†They’re delicious and healthy, and¬†I stockpile my refrigerator with them¬†each week. ¬†Well, it turns out that adding a dose of Yes to Blueberries to¬†your skincare regimen has an equally powerful effect on your skin. These products are rich in antioxidants and restorative ingredients for aging skin.

I wanted to share my thoughts on¬†a few Yes¬†to Blueberries items I’ve weaved into to my daily beauty routine: the¬†Intensive Skin Repair Serum and Eye Firming Treatment. If you‚Äôre not using a serum, well you need to be. It should be the first layer you put on your face after cleansing, the ‚Äúvitamin layer‚ÄĚ that infuses your skin with nutrients.

Just Another Mani Monday: Deborah Lippman Naked

Deborah Lippman makes beautiful nail polish,¬†no doubt. And¬†I’m pretty sure she created the world’s most perfect nude in the shade Naked. This polish balances¬†perfectly on the edge of sheer¬†and¬†opaque, and blends beige, peach and pink hues to create the most flattering neutral that¬†has ever¬†graced my nails. I love the delicate nature of a nude nail, and think it’s the perfect alternative to a bare nail. Ironically, I feel “naked” without polish at times so this shade is totally right!

We¬†already showed you what Naked looked like topped with Deborah Lippman’s other spring hit, Glitter in the Air. But what do you think of it on its own?
