Just Another Mani Monday: NARS Pokerface

We finally got our first snow of the season in Chicago this weekend. While I admit I had a momentary breakdown shoveling, I really do love those first few snows of winter. It’s so pretty and serene! And my polish choice for this week’s mani is no coincidence — NARS Pokerface is the perfect purple to complement the winter scene going on outside. Wearing a dark color this week would not have felt right.

Pokeface applied like a dream. It’s opaque in one coat, but I’d say you need two to get that lilac goodness to truly pop. I applied two coats over CND’s Stickey Base Coat and a quick layer of Seche Vite on top. I am loving it! Also, it looks like this shade of purple is going to be very on-trend this spring, so do yourself a favor now and Pokerface it up!

Ten or Less: Sally Hansen Color Quick Chrome Pens

I picked up some of these new Sally Hansen Color Quick Chrome Pens recently and this week I have been playing around with 4 of the shades. I’m not one for changing my nail polish more than once a week but I’m getting into the holiday spirit and making my nails look like ornaments. ;)

These new Color Quick pens  have a chrome finish and come in 8 shades, I’ve been partial to Gold Chrome, Silver Chrome, Green Chrome and Red Chrome myself. One thing about this product that you should know is that is not going to give you long lasting wear, I experienced slight chipping a little more than a day after application. Its saving grace is that it’s convenient and easy to use. Drying time is minimal so it’s easy to switching things up often and have some with the color on your nails… which is exactly what I’m doing.

p.s. they are on sale at Ulta (buy one get one 50% off) and Walmart ($6 each) right now!

Hinge Textured Leather Hobo: My New Handbag!

The Hinge Textured Leather Hobo is my newest handbag acquisition. I deliberated over this purchase for weeks and luckily I found it on sale at Nordstrom (not to mention double points on my MOD card). I asked everyone I knew what they thought of it because sometimes I’m the kind of gal who needs a positive endorsement before I buy something. Almost everyone said they liked it. I’m not sure if they were honest… one beauty blogging friend told she was not a fan. Either way, I decided I liked it enough to buy it in brown. :)

I am completely in love with this bag’s texture. It has this industrial look to it that I really, really like. It’s also pretty damn big, big enough for me to carry all those “just in case” items that I like to keep with me every day. I read the measurements before I clicked on the Place Order button but I guess I just envisioned it being smaller than it actually is. That’s totally OK though because the next time I get on an airplane, this will be the bag I bring on board with me!
