Make Up For Ever for Aqua Di Lara/Qiss Qiss at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim

For the Aqua Di Lara/Qiss Qiss shows at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim in Miami, Make Up For Ever key artist Lottie created two beautiful make up looks for models at the Aqua Di Lara and Qiss Qiss swim show on Saturday, July 17th.  The first look designed for Aqua Di Lara featured champagne and earth tones on the eyes with shimmery, metallic highlights.

Complexion & Cheeks: The skin was bronzed with highlights.

Eyes: Lottie first applied MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Cream #14 to the outer corners of the lids and blended inward. Next she applied MAKE UP FOR EVER Eye Shadow #17 to the crease and then dusted the outer corners and crease with MAKE UP FOR EVER Star Powder #930 to add a golden brown shimmer. The inner corner of the eyes were then dusted with MAKE UP FOR EVER Star Powder #946 to add a lighter dimension of shimmer. The eyes were lined with MAKE UP FOR EVER Waterproof Liner #1 in black and the lashes were coated with MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Smoky Lash.

Lips: For a shimmery nude lip, Lottie applied MAKE UP FOR EVER Fascinating Lip Gloss #16 as the finishing touch.

As a contrast, the models for Qiss Qiss had a defined eye with a rose pink contour and glossy pink lips.  Both looks were glamorous and beautiful.

Complexion & Cheeks: The cheeks were highlighted with MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Microfinish Blush #6 to add a soft pink glow.

Eyes: Lottie applied MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Cream #16 to eye lid blending it into the crease and up to the brow bone. Next MAKE UP FOR EVER Eye Shadow #132 is swept onto the entire lid, crease and extended to the brow bone. MAKE UP FOR EVER Waterproof Liner #1 in black is applied to the top and bottom of each lash line. To finish, the lashes were coated with MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Smoky Lash.

Lips: Lottie created a glossy, rosy lip by applying MAKE UP FOR EVER Lipstick #423 and topping it with Fascinating Lip Gloss #9.

This time we’re giving away products from both looks. This includes Aqua Creams in #14 (a warm brown shimmer) and #16 (a gorgeous shimmering pinky beige), Star Powder #930 (a bronze brown) and Lipstick #423 (a sheer muted berry).

Dusty Pink Perfection: NARS Douceur Blush

NARS Douceur Blush for fall is beautiful. It was love at first sight for me. I stopped by the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale first thing on its opening day and made my first stop the NARS counter. The Chicago counter is the best — led by the “A” team of Alex, Adrienne and Amanda — if you’re in the area you need to visit them! Interestingly enough, Alex informed me that they were already sold out of the Strawberry Fields gloss and the Palladium Soft Touch Pencil. So I jumped on this blush immediately.

It may look ordinary – a matte pink blush with brown undertones – but it’s quite unique to NARS blush collection. It’s matte but I wouldn’t describe the color as flat. It doesn’t turn muddy on my skin, which blushes with brown hues tend to do. To my eye, it’s like Dolce Vita’s younger dusty pink sister. It’s also shares some similarities with one of my favorite (limited edition) MAC blushes, The Perfect Cheek, released with last fall’s Makeup Art Cosmetics Collection. Surprisingly, the NARS etching on the actual product sticks around for awhile. I’ve used this a few times now and its still there.

As you can see, it’s more pink on my skin than brown. It translates to dusty pink perfection on the face. If you love NARS blushes, I’d say you need this. I know I did, and I’m very happy with the purchase! Let us know if you’ve had a chance to check out this collection in person and what you thought of Douceur!

Make Up For Ever for Mara Hoffman at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim

For the Mara Hoffman show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim in Miami, Make Up For Ever key artist Lottie created a “spacey” tribal make up look with bright accents of fuchsia and turquoise that put the focus on the eyes. This was inspired by Hoffman’s muse, who goes on a mystical journey through the jungle, visiting crystal caves, rivers, oceans; a tongue-in-cheek Amazonian tribeswoman in a bikini following her White Horse spirit guide.

Complexion & Cheeks: The skin was bronzed and dewy with highlights on the brow bone and high cheek. Aqua Cream #7 in Fuchsia was applied lightly to the cheeks and blended heavily so only a slight pink flush remained.

Eyes: To create this tribal chic make up look, Lottie applied MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Cream #4 in white to the entire lid, up to the brow bone, blending it out. The eyes were defined using MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Eyes #0L in black on the bottom lash line only, and then MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Smoky Lash on both the top and bottom. Using a lip brush for added precision, Lottie drew small white dots at the top of the cheek bones starting from the outer corner of the eyes and over the blower bridge of the nose, following the natural shape of the eyes.

Lips: Lottie applied Lipstick #502, a matte nude lipstick, to keep the focus on the eyes.

From this look we will be giving away 3 of the new Aqua Creams in #4, (a white pearl shimmer), #7 (hot pink with gold flecks) and #21 (vibrant torquoise). To enter, simply leave a comment below on this entry by midnight on Wednesday, July 28th. A winner will be chosen at random and notified via email on Thursday. Good luck!

Make Up For Ever for Dolores Cortes at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim

For the Dolores Cortes show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim in Miami, Make Up For Ever key artist Lottie created a beautiful safari-chic make up look inspired by bohemian references of the 50’s Parisian woman, combined with acid and exotic colors from Bells Beach in Australia. The end result was a palette of shimmering greens and golds.

Complexion & Cheeks: The skin was glowing and fresh faced. Lottie first applied MAKE UP FOR EVER Sculpting Blush #22 to lightly highlight the cheeks.

Eyes: The eyes were the focal point of the look. Lottie first applied MAKE UP FOR EVER Diamond Shadow #302 in teal to the lid, and then applied MAKE UP FOR EVER Diamond Shadow #310 in a shimmering emerald green starting one quarter of the way in from the outer corner of the eye to the outer eye lid and then into the crease and lower brow bone. Next Lottie applied MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Cream #11 in gold to the inner corner of the eye lid for a metallic pop. The eyes were lined with MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Eyes #0L in black and the lashes were coated with MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Smoky Lash.

Lips: Depending on each model’s preference for a matte or glossy nude lip, Lottie applied either MAKE UP FOR EVER Lipstick #502 or MAKE UP FOR EVER Glossy Full Couleur #10 to complete the look.

From this look we will be giving away 1 Diamond Shadow in #310 (emerald green) , 1 Aqua Cream  in #11 (gold) and 1 Glossy Full Couleur in #10 (peachy pink). To enter, simply leave a comment below on this entry by midnight on Tuesday, July 27th. A winner will be chosen at random and notified via email on Wednesday. Good luck!

Make Up For Ever at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim in Miami

Make Up For Ever is the official makeup sponsor at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim in Miami, an event where top swimwear designers from around the world gather to showcase their upcoming collections. Their artists have been working hard Friday, Saturday, Sunday and today to create looks that stand up to the Miami heat.

To celebrate the occasion, Product Girl and Make Up For Ever have teamed up to give away products from using to create the looks featured in some of the shows. We will host a new giveaway each day of this week and we’re starting things off with the look from the Ed Hardy fashion show.

Makeup artist James Vincent was the key artist for the Ed Hardy swim show on Friday, July 16th. He created a bold black eye and strong red lip for a glamorous, old Hollywood look.

Complexion & Cheeks: The skin was bronzed and dewy with highlights on the brow bone and high cheek.

Eyes: To get a neutral base for the eye, James applied MAKE UP FOR EVER Eye Shadow #156 up to the brow bone. He then created a thick rim around the top of the eye extending to the liner beyond the outer corner of the lid using MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Black, and he then went on to rim the lower lash line as well. He finished by applying two coats of MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Smoky Lash.

Lips: For a gorgeous pop of red on the lips, James applied MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Cream #8.

From this look we will be giving away  1 Aqua Black (a pot of matte black eye shadow/liner) , 1 Aqua Eyes liner in #0L (black) and 1 Aqua Cream in #8 (a tomato red). To enter, simply leave a comment below on this entry by midnight on Monday, July 26th. A winner will be chosen at random and notified via email on Tuesday. Good luck!

Check back with us tomorrow for the look created for the Dolores Cortes swim show and giveaway. And don’t forget to check back with us later in the week for the looks created at the Mara Hoffman, Aqua Di Lara, Luli Fama, Marysia Swim and Tyler Rose.

New! NARS Fall 2010 Collection

After much anticipation, the NARS Fall 2010 collection is available! It’s expected to be on NARS website today, and it’s already on Sephora.com and has also been spotted at Nordstrom counters. NARS always does amazing things with his fall collections, and this year we get a new powder blush — the first in two years! – and an assortment of bright, matte colors and cool shimmering eyeshadow duos. The campaign is centered around Daphne Guinness, and her namesake is all over the purple eye shadow you see in the promo image above. According to Francois himself, Daphne “is the ideal icon to capture Fall 2010’s old-Hollywood meets futuristic look.”

Douceur Blush - Yes, you are actually seeing a NARS logo etched onto this soft pink brown blush. That’s a first for NARS.

Daphne Eyeshadow - This is the stunning matte deep-violet we see on Daphne Guiness. I must own this!

Mangrove Eyeshadow - This soft mellow yellow laced with lime is inspired by the tropical Mangrove tree. This shade isn’t something I’m naturally drawn to for fear of looking sallow, but I trust NARS in a way I don’t other brands. I think it could actually be pretty cool.

Coconut Grove Eyeshadow -  Described as a dark chocolate-cum-taupe, this shade is named for Miami’s magical neighborhood on Biscayne Bay.

Rouge Basque Lipstick - Drawing inspriration from the inside cover of a book from the famed French countryside, François Nars envisioned the quintessential red from the Basque region. I’m interested to see this in person, it looks like it could be a very flattering, understated red.

Strawberry Fields Lip Gloss – So NARS is trying to make you hungry with this description: Imagine juicy, mouthwatering strawberries, just picked. Then delight in the serious, yet sexy shine of this bright pink confection.

Palladium Soft Touch Shadow Pencil – This was one of my favorite product launches last year! I’m glad to see another color released. Palladium is a sparkling turquoisethat rocks with all the vibrancy and sex appeal of its namesake NYC hotspot.

Tzarine Duo Eyeshadow – The duos looks stunning – very neutral, yet jazzed up a bit. Tzarine includes platinum gold infused with silver and is paired with a bold, steel grey.

Rajasthan Duo Eyeshadow - Named after India’s largest state, this duo plays glazed almond against cool charcoal. There’s a definite green tinge going on with the dark side, and I like it!

What’s grabbing your attention from this collection? I’m a little undecided – I want most of the eyeshadows and the Douceur blush. But until I see it in person, I’ll hold off. I’m pulling a Carla with this collection and not ordering online:)

New! NARS Sephora Exclusive Lip Gloss Collection

This month NARS is introducing a limited edition collection of their lip glosses exclusively to Sephora. They have already made their infamous Orgasm blush into a lip gloss and now they have turned some of their other best selling shades in lip glosses as well.

These new lip glosses have a different formula from the lip glosses in the regular NARS lineup. This formula goes on smoother, slicker and they are less tacky. They feel very comfortable on the lips and I love the sheerness of each one, they will go perfectly on top of your favorite lipstick, or lipstain in my case.

From Left to Right Albatross, Luxor, Super Orgasm, Angelika, Luster and Oasis.

Shades in this release are:

  • Albatross – sheer white gold shimmer
  • Luxor – sheer pink/blue tone with shimmer
  • Super Orgasm – sheer peach/pink with shimmer
  • Angelika – sheer cotton candy pink
  • Luster – sheer golden apricot with shimmer
  • Oasis – mauve/pink with shimmer

It is not the first time we have seen an incarnation of Orgasm as a lip gloss and being an OG Orgasm gal, I immediately wondered how the two glosses where compared to one another so  I dug through my stash and photographed the two side by side. Now the thing to keep in mind is that Super Orgasm is sheerer than the original but still seems to venture slightly into pink territory. Or is it just me?

You can find these limited edition lip glosses online at Sephora now. What do you say? Will you be rocking some Albatross or Oasis this summer? In case you were dying to know, those are my faves. :)

Buxom Stay There Eye Shadow, For Dog Lovers Everywhere

There’s a new breed of cream shadow on the block, Buxom Stay There Eye Shadow, and I’m all in a tizzy over these! They’re named after puppy dogs. How cool is that? These are tugging at my crazy dog lady heart strings in a big way. The formula sounds appealing – it’s a “bounc-i-licous” eye color with an unexpectedly plush, lightweight texture. It’s paraben-free, infused with minerals and contains Aloe extract and Vitamin E. Sounds promising, right? I love the color selection — I’m eyeing up Pug and Schnauzer. I do have a thing for those wrinkly, smushy puppy faces.

My only disappoint with the selection is, of course, no Boston Terrier!  If I may offer some inspiration for a new Buxom shade…here’s my girl, Betty.

You can find these exclusively at Sephora for $17. We’ll report back when we give these a try!
