Chanel’s Fall Makeup Collection is heading to counters in just a few short weeks and based on the collection images we received, it’s going to be amazing! Here’s what you can expect to see with Chanel Fall:
Coco Chanel’s iconic style was a study in contrasts. She boldly mixed black and white, masculine and feminine, classic and modern. Paying tribute to her unique vision, Peter Philips, Global Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup, has created a makeup collection for Fall 2010 that brings bold emphasis to the eyes, and keeps lips soft and delicate.

Smashbox does great value sets for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and in general. One of the brand’s exclusive offerings for 2010 is called “Evening Chic Beauty,” and it includes:
- Full-size Photo Finish Primer
- Eye Shadow Quad in Glitz
- Limitless Eye Liner Pencil in Onyx
- Photo Finish Lid Primer
- Medium Lip Gloss in Posh
And of course, the “chic” bag that can double as a clutch is also included. The price point is very good (comparatively) at $59. The Limitless Eye Liner is a new product for summer and is a designed to be creamy and long-wearing. We haven’t put them to the test ourselves, but we saw the lovely Karen at Makeup and Beauty Blog just posted a review. Click here to check it out!
More Nordstrom Anniversary sale goodness! If you’re like me, you love this time of year because MAC always does something special for Nordstrom and I always look forward to the new palettes or sets.
While I miss the palettes, I like the direction MAC is going in with these Look in a Box sets, don’t you? Each set retails for $59.50 and includes staples for each look: mascara, eyeshadow, blush and lip color. Here’s a sneek peak at each set:

And of course, it wouldn’t be Anniversary time without a few MAC brush sets. Can I tell you how many I have purchased over the years? More than a handful! This year there are 2 sets, an Eye Brush set and a Face Brush set, each priced at $49.50. Is it me or does the price creep up every year? Maybe it’s the brush roll…
In addition to these sets, Nordstrom will finally let customize your own palette with 28 of their best selling shades to choose from and there’s new Dazzle lipstick and Dazzleglass glosses as well. I don’t have pictures yet but as soon as I do, you’ll see them.
So what say you? Are you adding anything to your shopping list?
God bless Stila, they keep putting out interesting and well done products! Today they are introducing their limited edition Stila Girl Travel palettes. The palettes are part of their Road to Radiance Across the USA series and a new palette will be introduced each month now until December. For only $10 each, you can definitely afford to collect each one, right?
The first palette is inspired by Kyley’s road trip across the US and includes 4 eyeshadows in Snow Bunny (shimmery champagne), Southern Belle (mauve), Valley Girl (pink) and City Chick (alloy) and 1 Convertible Color in Hibiscus. I’m loving the colors in this palette so I’m definitely in…are you?
Our Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Beauty Exclusives sneak peek continues. First up, a new Chanel Yeus-Eyes eyeshadow quad. Neutral lovers, rejoice! This quad is definitely my style, but at $65 it needs to be unique. I haven’t seen in person yet, but will report back. I’m definitely hopeful though. I mean, when Chanel is on, they are on. What do you think? Does this catch your eye?
As for Dior, we’re getting a new palette, Fall Ready to Wear, and an exclusive shade of Dior Addict Ultra Gloss in Intimate Bronze. The palette, priced at $54, features four eye shadows, two lip glosses, a blush, a bronzer and three applicators. These types of palettes don’t often excite me, but if these are your thing it’s a great value and the colors look lovely.
Stay tuned for more sneak peeks of Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Beauty Exclusives!
YSL’s Solaris Collection for summer gives me the blues, in a very blissful, tropical way. It all started with this image of the Lumière Aquarésistant Water Resistant Cream Eyeshadow in Riviera Blue. Of all the blues that I’ve seen this summer, this is the standout for me. I think it’s a perfect shade to pat on the lid or smudge across the lower lash line. Yeah, I’ve definitely got the YSL blues.
Now, I find myself attracted to blue everything. Like this sweater from Banana Republic. I picked this up over Memorial Day weekend and it’s the perfect summer sweater. I love the ombre effect.
And this necklace from Anthropologie is officially on my must-have list. I think it would look great with Riviera Blue and a white shirt.
I love a big chunky watch, and I’m gravitating towards this Fossil one in blue.
I also grabbed these Steve Madden sandals at Nordstrom recently. I love them! They seem to go with everything. And of course they are a perfect shade of turquoise.
YSL’s Solaris collection is available at counters and Sephora and I urge you to check out Riviera Blue. It’s so pretty and very wearable even for those who don’t step outside the neutral zone. And it’s limited edition! The collection features several new, permanent shades of Gloss Pur and another, also permanent, shade of Lumière Aquarésistant in Golden Sands.
We’d also be interested in hearing about your color of the season. Let us know what it is, and your inspiration!
It’s not often that we break out in song, but here’s a little diddy inspired by NARS Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Exclusive “Hopelessly Devoted Set.”
But NARS can’t you see, there’s nothing else
for me to do I’m hopelessly devoted to you
But now there’s a new gloss to make mine
and I’m pushing my Easy Lover aside; I’m not in my head
Hopelessly devoted to you
Hopelessly devoted to you
If you are also “Hopelessly Devoted” to NARS, you can pick up this exclusive set at Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale. For $53, you’ll receive:
- Laguna Bronzer and Deep Throat Blush Duo
- Medium-sized Orgasm gloss
- Medium-sized Crepscule gloss (exclusive shade)
At first glance, Crepscule seems to be in the same color family as the Coup de Couer from NARS Summer collection. Can’t wait to see it up close and personal!
Stila has a very cool promotion going on right now with its makeup player, which made waves when it launched due to its functionality as a vanity, makeup bag and video and music player. Until now, it came with a pre-determined array of Stila products but now you have the option to create your own! It’s simple. Go to Stila’s wesbite, add $70 worth of Stila product to your shopping cart and enter code MUPLAYER at checkout and the makeup player will automatically appear in your order at no additional cost.
What would you add to your makeup player? I’d definitely go for some of the value sets – the Barbie Loves Stila Smudge Pot trio is still available for $20 and the It Girl Palette with three shimmering neutrals (kitten included!) is only $10. And if you haven’t checked out any of Stila summer, this is a great opportunity. Smudgesticks anyone? And Raspberry Crush is a summer must-have for us!
I’ve become increasingly obsessed with nail polish lately and with glitter nail polishes in particular. So out of all of the Nordstrom Anniversary exclusives I’m seeing and hearing about, I have to confess that I am the most excited about the Deborah Lippmann exclusives. The glitter loving gal in me is just over the moon about these soon to be released polishes.
Above is the All That Jazz set which retails for $40. The three glitter polishes in this set are Razzle Dazzle, Some Enchanted Evening and Lady Sing the Blues. The set also comes in a silver signature box.
If you’re not interested in the set (why wouldn’t you be??), you can also pick up a few individual glitters in Across the Universe and Bad Romance, both retail for $18 each. Aren’t these shades gorgeous? Across the Universe is killing me.
The 2010 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale starts on Friday, July 16 but you can call your local counter and pre-order these now… which is exactly what I am doing. Also, check out our sneak peeks at the Bobbi Brown and Trish McEvoy exclusives for a little shopping inspiration. What are you pre-ordering? Let us know in the comments.
It’s not often that my husband and I share beauty products. But Phyto Professional Matte Texturizing Paste is one such case. This product is intended to give you a tousled “morning-after” look, by adding texture and shine. It’s got acacia collagen and beeswax so it’s flexible to work with and isn’t drying.
For me, I worked a small drop of this into my locks after my morning routine of drying and velcro rollers. I found it gave a little texture and enhanced the look I get from the rollers. For the man of the house, he used this after air drying his hair. It give him a natural look and enough control to calm down his cowlicks. It’s a pretty large bottle considering the amount you actually need to use so I expect we’ll have this in our bathroom for quite awhile.
Does anyone else swap products with their man? Would be interested to hear about it. In another of my recent attempts, I used Clinique All About Eyes Serum De-Puffing Eye Massage on my husband and he accused me of trying to poke his eye out. It doesn’t always work out!
