I live for cherry blossoms. It was one of my favorite attractions every year around this time when I lived in DC and I’m just drawn to the scent. It’s so fresh, sweet and springy. So naturally I pounced on Organix’s Rejuvenating Cherry Blossom & Ginseng shampoo and conditioner the second I laid eyes on those cute pink bottles.
It contains cherry blossom extracts to rejuvenate the scalp and hair follicles to boost volume at the root, and also nourishes your hair with replenishing rice milk and bamboo extract for hydration and shine. Lots of good for your hair ingredients in this duo. My only complaint is that it’s a little drying, but I load up on the conditioner to help combat this. It smells absolutely amazing! Love it!
For at home waxing, the Bliss Poetic Waxing Kit is my old trusted stand-by. I may try other products but I always come back to it. I love it so much that I have lost count of the number of times I’ve repurchased the kit… yes, it is that many. When I heard Bilss say on Twitter that there was a new and improved kit making its debut, I was ready to open my wallet and bust out the debit card.
While the wax formula is still the same, the big improvement in this kit is the cup. The cup is now microwavable so it is much easier and quicker. I cannot tell you how many times I have left my cup warming up in water bath and forgot about it… a few pans in the process. I’m dying to try this new cup.
The Poetic Waxing kit is an expensive in comparison to ones you may see out on the market but for me, it’s totally worth it. The wax is easy to remove and does not need strips plus I love the skin cleanser and waxing oil, totally soothing after waxing.
Now is a good time to pick this up for the first time or restock like I will be doing. Bliss is running giving shoppers 20% and free shipping for the next 4 days. Just enter code APRIL20 during checkout. I’m ordering… are you?
This just in…Nonie Creme, Butter London’s creative director just announced on Twitter that the brand is coming out with new Luxury Lotions on April 1st. These new lotions are vegan and paraben free. I don’t know about you but I absolutely love Butter London and if they introduce something new, I’m all over it. After all, they are a local brand and I’m obligated to support them.
The new Luxury Lotions come in three scents: Country Garden (cut grass, earthy), Black Tea (sensual and uni-sex!) and Champagne (sweet, light, and clean). Isn’t the packaging great? I love the vibe Butter London has with it’s products. Nonie says the lotions are suprisingly light in texture but have a rich application. The lotion is fully absorbed in a few minutes and there’s no greasy film on your skin afterwards. She also says they make skin feel incredibly velvety.
Look for these on April 1st on butterlondon.com in 50ml ($10 each), and 200ml ($18 each) sizes.
Since reconnecting with Becca, I have realized that I am a total idiot for not getting on board the Becca Beach Tint trainer earlier. This is a prime example of how my anti-online shopping rule has failed me.
Becca’s Beach Tint is not like most of the stains I have tried. It’s a creme stain so it has a bit of opacity to it, something I didn’t expect when I first tried it but have now come to love. It seems to even out any discoloration I have on my lips and just leaves them with a rosy pink matte tint. In my eyes, this is the stain equivalent of a matte lipstick only I can wear it on my cheeks… and let me tell you, it blends fabulously.
So how does it wear? A single application will last me most of the work day. It does lose some color with eating and drinking during the day but I think that’s to be expected since it is a creme. I’ve found I can leave work with at least some color on my lips. It is a tad drying but applying a lip balm before the tint definitely helps. The formula reminds of me of those long wearing lip colors we’ve all tried only Becca’s Beach Tint doesn’t this one doesn’t flake off my lips. Only downside I’ve experienced is the formula seems to separate a bit but if you shake the tube up a bit, problem solved.
Right now Becca has 3 shades available: Watermelon, Peach and Raspberry (which is sold out everywhere and that drives me crazy because I can’t get it). This summer Becca will be introducing 2 additional shades in Strawberry and Grapefruit, which I’m sure I will love just as much as the two I already have. Also, each shade actually smells like the fruit they are named after, isn’t that cute?
Have you tried a Becca Beach Tint? What do you think? Are you loving them as much as I am? Let us know all about it in the comments.

Since I love Cashmere Mist (so much that I frequently layer myself with the body lotion and deodorant) it doesn’t take much to get my attention when it comes to a Donna Karan fragrance. When I saw Lianne from The Makeup Girl tweeting about the new Iris Eau de Parfum addition to the Donna Karan Collection, I just had to smell it.
Ever since I discovered iris as a prominent note in my bottle of Iris from Hilde Soliani, I’ve been obsessed with iris and if you notice, it is a prominent note in another best seller… Prada’s Infusion D’Iris. Donna Karan takes iris in a different direction with her new Iris Eau de Parfum, it is refreshing and stands out among the florals currently out in department stores.
At the opening of the scent, Iris is crisp and sparkling. It makes me want to roll around in a meadow like Bella and Edward. This crispness keeps Iris from being overly sweet or floral. The opening quickly gives way to the heart of the fragrance where you have notes of magnolia, rose de mai, violet and ambrette seed mellowing out into a seductive spring floral. And how sleek is this packaging? The signature black cylindrical 3.4 oz bottle is definitely vanity table worthy.
The new Iris Eau de Parfum is making its debut this month at Bergdorf Goodman in New York (that place is like heaven!), Donna Karan Collection Boutiques and select Neiman Marcus stores.
Have you smelled Iris yet? What do you think? Are you in love like I am? Let us know about it in the comments.
MAC’s Too Fabulous collection hit counters recently and it is in fact too fabulous. It features my favorite MAC lip glass formula of all time – the Cremesheen! – lip pencils and mineralize blush duos. With the exception of the Cremesheen glosses, which will join the permanent collection (yay!), everything else is limited edition.
Strike while the iron is hot, here are the details: Continue reading
You know how you have heard of something for a long time yet you have never tried it? I had heard about Jemma Kidd Makeup School Rosy Glow Lip & Cheek Tint for years but because I like to touch things before I buy, it wasn’t until I was at Space NK in New York last month that I finally got my hands on it… and it was long overdue!
This stain’s formula is old school, it’s a fluid rosy stain like Benetint, only there are differences in packaging and color. The color of the stain is nice, it is a soft red that gives lips that “bitten” look but it can also be built up for more intensity. It is not as bright as Benetint, this stain is deeper and looks a little plumy as you layer it on.
And as you can see, it comes with more convenient packaging. This rollerball can make application on the lips a little tricky (like excess product if you get too close to the edge of your lips) but I found it is great for applying the stain onto cheeks. There’s no tell-tale mark from when the stain first came into contact with skin. I just hate it when that happens. This one blends beautifully and gives my cheeks a gorgeous flush of color like I was just out for a run or something… only I’m far too lazy for that.
Have you tried this stain? What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments.
Mascara is one of those beauty products that I wear even on days that I don’t feel like wearing much on my face. Just a quick swipe seems to help tired eyes look bright. At any given moment, I have a handful of mascaras I rotate using.
Here are the ones currently living in my makeup bag:
- Lancôme Hypnose Drama – I’ve been using this mascara a ton lately – reaching for it nearly every morning. I’ve really grown to love it and find it adds plenty of *drama* to my lashes.
- Benefit Bad Gal Plum – Now I know reviews are mixed on the Bad Gal mascaras, but I totally love them – especially the blue and plum. I use the plum a lot with smokey brown eyes, it gives my lashes a little something different.
- Nars Larger than Life Volumizing – I love this one too! It totally lives up to its claim and totally pumps up my lashes. It is waterproof and very difficult to fully remove — and I even remove it with Nars Cleansing Oil! For that reason, it’s my “special occasion” mascara.
- Almay Intense I-Color Bring Out Lengthening – I picked this up in Blue Sapphire on a whim. I’m very “eh” on it, and I actually think that Almay has since repackaged/reformulated/discontinued this specific mascara. It’s a beautiful shade of navy blue but it doesn’t do much for my lashes.
- L’Oreal Double Extend Lash Boosting – One side is primer infused with lash boosting serum and the other is the mascara. It’s just OK. I find it difficult to apply because the wands are basically half the size as normal and it can make application difficult. Also, I find that my lashes can get a little flaky looking at times. It’s as though the primer and mascara don’t entirely work together.
Hmm…sounds like I need to ditch the Almay and L’Oreal and bring back my Cover Girl LashBlast! Speaking of, Cover Girl is introducing a brand new mascara, LashBlast Fusion, which both volumizes and lengthens! Isn’t that thrilling?
It should arrive at stores nationwide in April, but if you look onto www.Facebook.com/COVERGIRL starting today you can find out where you can purchase it early! You can also check out its debut at Fashion Week during the Anna Sui show on You Tube.
What about you – any mascaras you’re loving (or not loving) lately? And are you also so excited for LashBlast Fusion?
