I cannot get enough of Tarte’s Flower Child Natural Eyeshadow Palette. The colors are perfect for spring and the combinations are endless. With names like Peach Tulip, Vibrant Forest Grass, Ecru Hibiscus and Soft Daffodil, it even sounds springy. Which is exactly what Tarte sought to evoke with this palette, designed by makeup artist Tina Turnbow. It’s all about saturated pigments of earthy hues with subtle pops of color. And in true Tarte form, it’s free of all of parabens, talc, preservatives, GMOs and other un-natural ingredients.
It also comes with a double-ended eyeliner, brush and a sample of natural eye primer. Really, what’s not to love about this palette? I highly recommend you give this a second look on your next trip to Sephora!
To say that I like the Ellis Faas line is a bit of an understatement… I am completely in love and obsessed with this line. From the moment I set foot in Bergdorf Goodman’s last week and stepped up to the Ellis Faas counter, it was as if I was in a strange, new but fascinating land that I didn’t want to leave. The Ellis Faas is the most unique beauty line I’ve come across in awhile. From line’s the concept to the packing itself, it is brilliant.
The line believes that the most obvious and natural way to enhance beauty is to do it with colors that are already in the human body. That is how the Ellis Faas line began, a line of “human colors”, colors that are found naturally in or under the skin. For example, if you had a bruise, the color of the blood under the skin would be purple and that is a color found in this line. It may seem a little dark but I find it to be interesting.
Then comes the packaging, this is what drew me in to the counter in the first place. For the most part, the products come in these sleek silver pens with a pointed tip that look like elongated bullets, which was the idea behind the design. The one exception to this packaging is the pressed powder, that comes in it’s own unique packaging. Otherwise everything else comes in the same silver elongated bullet like pen. Inside you may have different tips but the shape is basically the same throughout, even with mascara and foundation. I love how industrial chic it is.
There is also an Ellis Holder to house all your Ellis Faas favorites and it has a surprise inside. This too was inspired by a gun. It holds foundation in the middle and 6 other projects of your choosing. If you twist a portion of the holder, each “bullet” in the chamber rises up for you to use. The surprise in the packaging is the pressed powder and mirror in the cap. Clever, is it not?
I’ll be going into the products more in depth soon but for now, I wanted to peak your curiosity and tell you a little bit about this line. I picked up a couple lip colors and an eyeshadow and I am loving them so far, I’ll tell you all about them soon.
Have you tried the Ellis Faas line? If so, I want to hear all about it. Let’s discuss our love of Ellis Faas.
Benefit’s One Hot Minute came to my rescue last week. After three days of the stomach flu, I was sallow and just plain sad looking. The flu took its toll on my body and when it was time to go back to work I needed some help looking healthy. Enter one of Product Girl’s favorites, Benefit One Hot Minute.
The rosy gold powder was just what I needed to help combat the post-flu skin. In literally a minute, I watched my face transform before my eyes. And even though I’m now flu-free, I still find myself still reaching for the One Hot Minute every morning. Sometimes you forget just how much you love certain products!

Sue Devitt has added a new palette to her Microquatic Hydrating Marine Minerals collection and I want it! I love the Microquatic palettes, I have almost all of them and now I’m adding this new Solomon Islands palette to my shopping list. This new palette is not just for the eyes but for the cheeks as well. The shades are perfect for spring with a little bronze, a few pink variations and a coral.
Gorgeous, is it not? If you try this, you have to let me know what you think.
Does Milani’s HD Advanced Concealer look familiar to you? Sure did to me when I spotted this product at CVS recently! The resemblence to YSL’s Touche Eclat is pretty strong, so I snatched up the last one in the “light” shade and hoped it would live up to my expectations. In terms of packaging, this is very similar in style to YSL with a gold, click pen. It took me a good 20 clicks to get the product finally going, and once I did I slowly started to love this product with each click thereafter.
Milani intends for this to be used as an all-purpose concealer – anywhere you want to brighten or cover an imperfection. I really like the consistency of the formula – it isn’t runny nor is it too thick – and there’s the perfect amount of illumination to the product. The shade selection is pretty limited with four options, but the light works great for my fair skin. I love to use this under my eyes as it really does help brighten the undereye area weightlessly. I stick with my Laura Mercier secret camoflouge for covering blemishes, but think this could do the trick as well.
Milani did a job well done with the HD Advanced Concealer and I highly recommend it if you can find a shade that matches. It’s probably the best seven dollars I’ve spent on a drugstore product in awhile!
Every year, MAC treats us to a new Viva Glam lipstick and a new spokesperson. This year, we get two, courtesy of Cyndi Lauper and Lady Gaga. From our perspective, MAC is a brand we love that also does great things and the Viva Glam campaign is a prime example. We don’t get too deep here often, but the issue of HIV/AIDS on a global scale is serious stuff. We applaud MAC for donating 100 percent of its Viva Glam sales to the MAC Aids Fund – which to date has raised $150 million!
These beautiful lipsticks hit counters a few weeks ago and the packaging adorned with Cyndi and Gaga’s autographes are the perfect touch. As a cool-toned pink girl, I’m gravitating to Viva Glam Gaga, but I think the Viva Glam Cyndi is a flattering soft red with a warm tone. I see that one looking great on many women.
What do you think of the new additions to the Viva Glam line? I’m always going to be partial to Viva Glam V, but these are refreshingly unique.

Before I left for New York Fashion Week, I was obsessed with finding a nice handbag to take with me. I ended up getting this Nordstrom pleated satchel in an off-white shade (which I really do love!) but last night I was browsing Nordstrom online and saw a bag that is making me put a plan into action that my wallet can live with. I’m thinking that this Marc by Marc Jacobs Flash Leola leather hobo is just what I need for this summer. Add turquoise (Pantone’s color of the year by the way), zippers and hobos together and for me, it’s a match made in heaven.
I’m definitely on board with this handbag, are you? What kind of handbag do you love? I just love hobos and satchels. Let us know what type of handbag you love in the comments.
It’s a good week when Laura Mercier release two new face palettes, wouldn’t you say?
Laura Mercier’s Zen Face palette is currently available at Nordstrom, and features a mix of colors to create a fresh look for spring. I’m drawn to the mint eye shadow and the lip glazes. And I LOVE the palette case.
Laura’s Polished Face Palette is a Sephora exclusive and features some of her best neutral shadows (love African Violet!) and two cheek colours in Rose and Orange Blossom. This is a very pretty palette and one that I would certainly get a ton of use out of.
Are either of these grabbing your attention? Let us know in the comments.
I am a sucker for a clever product and Purple Lab’s Huge Lips Skinny Hips Lip Gloss is such a product. This is creator Karen Robinovitz’s baby and she’s created a line full of fun, cool makeup with Purple Lab. This lip plumping gloss is easy to wear, no uncomfortable tingling here. It is not sticky and is infused with hoodia… hence the Skinny Hips portion of the name of the product. Nice little reminder, isn’t it?
The shades for this lipgloss are all as glam and fun as Karen herself. For example, Red Sole is a sheer red shade inspired by Karen’s love of Christian Louboutin shoes. Worship Kate (my favorite shade of the bunch) is tribute to Kate Moss and Kitty Poledancer is a nude gloss that is Karen’s nickname based on her love of pole dancing. See what I mean? Fun, right?
I have a special place in my heart reserved for Purple Lab, this is a company that has embraced bloggers right from the start. For them it all started with Huge Lips Skinny Hips and it is exciting to see Purple Lab grow! Tomorrow Purple Lab will be on HSN introducing the line and their new products. Being the fun and glamorous company that they are, products like Cheek Implants and Silk Sheets (both products contain skincare ingredients such as hyaluronic acid) are sure to be a hit tomorrow night. Good luck ladies!
