New! Clinique Deep Comfort Hand & Cuticle Cream

clinique-deep-comfort-hand-cuticle-cream

Speaking of Clinique, you have to try their new Deep Comfort Hand & Cuticle Cream. The job that pays the beauty bills (as Julia from All About the Pretty would say) has me dealing with vast amounts of paperwork on a daily basis so I’m constantly slathering hand cream on my hands. This hand cream is my new best friend.

You know when your hands are so dry that sometimes hand cream just sits on top of your skin and you still have that tight, dry feeling? That’s definitely not the case here, this hand cream absorbs quickly so my hands do not feel greasy and best of all, provides long lasting moisture so I don’t have to re-apply as often.

And… it is unscented so there’s no need to worry about offending anyone with its smell. I was once told by a co-worker that my L’Occitane hand cream smelled like a diaper. ;) We all know that’s not the case but I didn’t bring that hand cream to work again. If you have sensitive noses around you to worry about, go ahead and slather Clinique Deep Comfort Hand & Cuticle Cream on as much as you want. :)

Product Girl Travel Beauty Tips

In just a few short days, I’ll be transported from a likely rainy, cold Chicago to the warm, sunny beaches of Hawaii. I’m trying to downplay the excitement around my coworkers and friends, because well, it’s going to be rainy and cold the entire time I’m gone. Trying to be a gracious vacationer!

I need to get to packing, and like any beauty junkie, I’m thinking of what makeup I’m going to bring! There’s usually a three-step process that happens when I go to pack makeup for a vacation:

1) Sort through makeup bag and lay my vacation makeup on the counter – thinking the whole time I’m being practical with my selections.
2) Step back and see that I’ve selected 20 eyeshadows, 8 blushes and 10 lipglossees and realize that I haven’t been selective enough.
3) Start again, this time paring down to a reasonable amount of makeup that gets to come with on vacation.

Are you guilty of doing this too?

All that said, I still like to feel like I have options. For this I go to my palettes and multi-tasking products. Here’s what will defintely be making the trip with me to Hawaii.

Nars-the-multiple-duo

The NARS Multiple Duo in Maui/Palm Beach. This gives me a pinky blush and a bronzer, plus it travels really well because it’s a sleek, rubber compact.

Bobbi-Brown-Glitter-Lip-Gloss-Palette

This Glitter Lip Gloss Palette from Bobbi Brown’s holiday collection is perfect for travel. I happen to love these glosses for one, and I have four options to choose from!

Neutrogena-Age-Shield-SPF70-Sunblock

This is a must – need I remind you how long it has been since I’ve seen the sun? I do live in Chicago, we have the highest rate of Vitamin D deficiency in the country! Plus, this sunscreen doubles as my primer and never irritates my sensitive skin.

Tarte-Femme-Fatale-Eye-Palette

I like eyeshadow options and this Tarte Femme Fatale palette will serve me well. I have soft colors, deep neutrals, bold shimmers – yeah, I’m set with this one.

What are your travel beauty musts? Share any tips you have – after all my travels, I still don’t have this down to a science!

New! Clinique Black Tie Violets Collection

Clinique-Black-Tie-Violets-Holiday-2009

Clinique’s Black Tie Violets holiday collection is all about the purple. It feels festive – very sugar plum fairy. Don’t you think?  One thing is for sure – if shades of purple are your thing, then there is a very good chance that you will love this collection.

Here’s what we’re working with from Black Tie Violets:

  • Shimmering Stripes Powder Blusher in Tuxedo Plums ($29.50)
  • Powder Brush ($30)
  • Colour Surge Eye Shadow Quad in Black Tie Violets ($25)
  • Brush-On Cream Liner in Violet Luxe ($14.50)
  • High Impact Lip Colour SPF 15 in Extreme Pink ($14)
  • Different Lipstick in A Different Grape ($14)
  • Full Potential Lips Plump and Shine in Bloomberry (limited edition), Double Plum (limited edition) and Luscious Lilac. ($17.50)
  • Defining Liner for Lips in Pomengranate ($14)

I love the Violet Luxe cream liner!  This was the first cream liner I ever tried (back in the day – smoke grey was my “first”) and I attribute my gel liner addiction to this very product. Another area that I think Clinique excels in is lips – and I’m ALL OVER the Extreme Pink High Impact. I like the formula and the color is a cool pink. You know I’m obsessed with pinks by now right?!

Does Black Tie Violets bring out the sugar plum fairy in you? Are you digging it?

I don’t know about all of you, but Holiday collections have gotten us very excited this season.  And Bobbi Brown’s Chrome Collection is right up there at the top! We showed you Bobbi’s first installment of Holiday last month, and now we must talk about the Chrome Collection.

If you buy (or gift!) only one beauty item this season, the Chrome palette would be my recommendation.  I can see hundreds of ways to use this palette – and I for one, am going to give it a try. I can’t get enough of this palette! It truly does give you more bang for your buck, and includes 10 shadows, four lip glosses and mini eye and lip brushes.

Benefit's New Blog – Secret Life of a Benefit Gal

One of our favorite beauty brands, Benefit, has entered the world of blogging! If you haven’t checked it out yet, it’s a must-read. The apt named “Secret Life of a Benefit Gal” is a true behind the scenes glimpse of the ladies of Benefit. These gals have us laughing out loud (ok, LOLing) and remind us of why we love Benefit so much!

In honor of the Benefit blog, I thought I’d share with you a few of my favorite Benefit products.

Product-Girl-Benefit-Cosmetics-Favorites

Posietint – One of my favorite stains ever – it makes me look instantly happy. Yep, I said happy. People always compliment me when I wear this and, in turn, I smile which then makes me all cheery and happy. And it’s just the most flattering pink – like bubble gum. (Or pepto bismol…!)

Hello Flawless! – This powder foundation is no joke – it really does give you flawless skin. It’s multi-purposing, depending on the level of coverage you need and it never irritates my combination, breakout prone skin. Love.

Coralista – The newest addition to Benefit’s box-o’-powder lineup, Coralista is a peachy, pink blush that imparts a wonderful glow. I love Benefit’s boxed powders, and this one smells great too.

Creaseless Cream Shadow – As the name would indicate, these cream shadows/liners don’t crease. At all. I constantly wear this in the shade Skinny Jeans.

Your turn to share some Benefit faves with us! What do you love?

Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Supreme Shine

Shu-Uemura-Rouge-Unlimited-Supreme-Shine

Are you a superstitious person? I’m not usually, but sometimes I do believe that things happen for a reason. All deep, philosophical life decisions aside – in this instance, I’m talking about the new Shu Umerua Rouge Unlimited Supreme Shine lipstick.  Last week, I was convinced that me and this glorious lipstick (or gloss, if you will) weren’t met to be. But alas, we were. A little patience, preceded by a journey throughout Chicago, really paid off.

Allow me to explain. The new Shu Rouge Unlimited Supreme Shine is secretly the best, most hydrating lipgloss secretly packaged like a lipstick. It’s been done before, but not this well. It feels hydrating the instant it meets your lips,  is visibly dewy and full of shine. It has appropriate pigment, staying power and keeps your lips hydrated. The shade I coveted, BG935 (one of the shades used on the model above) is a pinky-nude-beige-mauve and I think would look good on any woman’s lips.

Shu-Uemura-Rouge-Unlimited-Supreme-Shine-BG935

I went to the North Face store in Chicago last week to try on winter coats (I’m not playing around this winter, learned that lesson the hard way) and made a quick stop in Neiman’s to swing by the counters. I zeroed in at Shu Uemura and was drawn like a magnet to this display of lipsticks. I tried to purchase the BG935 shade, but unfortunately it was out of stock. So I decided to try Nordstrom’s and Saks to see if I’d have better luck.  No go. This particular Nordstrom’s doesn’t carry Shu and Saks seems to be phasing out their Shu inventory.  What?! Ahh!

So I finally ordered it from Shu online and this tale ends up with one very happy beauty addict and an amazing lipstick finally united.  Really, that would have been the straightforward option from the beginning but really, Chicago? Stock up on your Shu! Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Supreme Shine will set you back $30. It’s a tad pricey but a very high quality product.

Got any beauty tales to share with us? Have you canvassed your town in search of a lipstick? Do tell…

Botkier Sydney Hobo: My New Obsession

Botkier-Sydney-Hobo

A couple weeks ago I was in Nordstrom doing some birthday shopping and I came across a handbag that I have now become completely obsessed with… meet the Botkier Sydney Hobo handbag. This version seen here with lamb skin and suede is not the one I set eyes on in Nordstrom that fateful day (I was admiring a chocolate brown version) but either way, all I can do is admire Sydney from afar for the time being.

At $695, this is completely out of my fiscal league right now so instead I’ll be looking for something else with some of the same design elements… I love the rouching (love the rouching in the Uma Tote too) and lines on this bag. What do you think? Know of anything similar? ;)

NARS Cosmetics is Coming to QVC

NARS-QVC-Premiere

Next to beauty, the television – and its companion, the DVR – are favorites of mine.  And what do you get when you meld those two together: QVC!  Normally, my schedule is so crazed that I can never seem to catch the beauty shows live so I almost always look ahead and add them to my DVR. Imagine my surprise when I noticed NARS Cosmetics appeared in the lineup of upcoming shows.

It’s true, NARS is coming to the Q. If this excites you as much as it does us, you can watch for yourself this Wednesday, November 11, from 8-9p.m.ET. I can’t wait to see who will be on-air representing!

Product Girl Must-Haves – October

Product-Girl-Fall-2009-Favorites

Being the beauty addicts we are at Product Girl, it’s always fun to show you what products really rock our world. In that vein, I wanted to share with you what has dominated my makeup bag this past month. October really flew by, and these products were with me every step of the way.

MAC Volcanic Ash Thermal Face Mask – This was released with MAC’s Style Black collection and my face loves this mask. I use this about twice a week (trying to ration it!) after I exfoliate and the combo leaves my skin so soft and I swear it helps keep blemishes at bay. And since it is a thermal mask, it heats up a bit when you wash it off. Not too much heat, but a nice refreshing sensation.

NARS Eyeshadow Duo in Silk Road – For me, this was a sleeper hit of the NARS Fall collection. It’s a very unassuming color combo – an icy pink and a warm rose gold with gold glitter. I immediately liked it but didn’t realize how much I would love it. The icy pink is so pretty as a lid or highlighter shade and the rose gold is beautiful on the lid, the crease –just about anywhere.

Bobbi Brown Metallic Long Wear Cream Shadow in Black Pearl Carla convinced me this was a must-have and she wasn’t kidding. I typically layer over my cream shadows, but not this. I pat it on my lid and it stands alone. Not only is it stunning…but it’s easy.

Cover Girl Lash Blast Length mascara – I’ve been on board the Lash Blast train for awhile – since the original orange tube launched. I love these mascaras – they work well for me. I see LBL as a very reliable mascara – it may not do much for thickening and volumizing, but it does lengthen my lashes, keep my curl and it never clumps or flakes.

Stila Kitten Smudgepot – Brilliance in a pot. This product has earned a permanent home in my makeup bag. I can use this on its own when in a hurry, but I love to use this as a base or on the inner corners of my eyes. It never creases and it isn’t as frosty as its powder sister. Basically, everyone needs this.

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation – I owe you guys a proper review on the new NARS foundations (Sheer Glow and Sheer Matte) because I love them both. But I’ll just say that if you have oily skin, uneven skin tone and/or are breakout prone, this foundation could become your new BFF. Yeah, it’s good. That good.

MAC Dazzleglass Creme in My Favorite Pink – I practically camped out at the MAC counter in anticipation of the Dazzleglass Cremes. And while I didn’t go as ga-ga over them as I thought I would, I did develop quite the affection for the shade My Favorite Pink. It’s bright pink, glittery and slightly creamy. Pretty much a sure thing in my book.

What about you? Any loves for the month of October? Do tell!
