I’m a sucker for sets (I’m sure I’m not alone here :)) and this Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals Crash Course Collection caught my eye right away the last time I was browsing the counters at Nordstrom, my unofficial home away from home.
At $22, I couldn’t pass it up. Bare Escentuals recently launched a new mascara called Flawless Definition Mascara and I was curious about it. When I saw this set included a deluxe sample version of said mascara in Black, a mini version of their 100% Natural Lipgloss in Wild Honey (a golden pearl pink shade that smells delicious!) and Gossip eyeshadow (a very now and pretty shimmering grey) all in a cute little metallic pouch, I thought it was a great way to try that mascara and finally give in to my inner shopaholic and try that lip gloss I’ve been wondering about for months.
I really should have my debit and credit cards taken away from me with all the products I have but I’m really debating getting this cute new Guerlain Volga Princess Eyes and Lips Palette.
This palette just screams cute, does it not? From the beautiful print on the packing and inside on the product to the gorgeous 2 shades of eyeshadow and lipgloss inside, it’s just begging to come home and cozy up to the rest of my stash. This palette is limited edition, so you know what that means… act quickly! It’s also an “online only” item so that comes with a bit of hesitation in my case… I usually like to touch and feel something before I buy it.

I use to be anti-The Hills… I still am to a certain degree, I just can’t stand Heidi and Spencer Pratt. Once I started finally watching the show, I realized that Whitney Port is really just so sweet and charming that you can’t not love her.
Today we received the word from Cargo Cosmetics that a new face joined their PlantLove lineup. Whitney Port collaborated with Cargo to create her own signature shade of hot pink lipstick called “Eve Pinky“. Whitney’s creation will be available in Sephora stores and Sephora.com beginning next week.
And there’s more… like the other Cargo PlantLove products, they are eco-friendly but Eve Pinky does a little bit more. For every tube of Whitney’s Eve Pinky lipstick, $2 from every sale will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
If you haven’t tried Cargo’s PlantLove lipsticks, now is the time to try them. Have you tried them? What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
Greasers were cool in the 50’s but since I’m not in the fifties nor am I a member of Sha Na Na, my greasy hair just isn’t cute. I have been plagued as long as I can remember with the need or should I say that I must wash my hair daily or it’s oil slick city. Now I’m not too lazy but I don’t always feel like washing my hair 365 days a year either so recently I made a new purchase.
I popped into my local Sephora the other day and picked up Frederik Fekkai’s Au Naturel Dry Shampoo. I chose the Fekkai line because the ingredient list was cleaner than others dry shampoos and I wanted a talc free version along with being free of the other following ingredients:
- Synthetic Fragrances
- Synthetic Dyes
The description states the Dry Shampoo employs cotton fibers, rice starch, and cornstarch to effectively eliminate excess oil from the hair. Now when I first tried it I thought this doesn’t work. I was going to take it back but I figured I should give it one more try. The second time I gave it a whirl on some pretty darn greasy hair and I was very pleased. I woke up late to get ready for work, had to hustle and the dry shampoo was my only hope of making it on time. Well I have to say it really came through not only did my hair look oil free and fresh but it stayed that way until a late night cocktail.
The key to making this product work is to not be light handed. The first time it didn’t work because I just hadn’t applied enough, it takes a hair amount to cut the through the oil. I start by working in the product around the frame of my face, massaging it in with my fingertips and then working it back through the length of the hair. I would say avoid your ends though, no reason to waste product on hair that’s not oily.

So last Friday night I had a date with Frederic and it turned out lovely, a rich wonderful experience. I would love to say I’m the woman who can afford an appointment at a high end salon every couple months but it just wouldn’t be true. I have been doing most of my own dye jobs since unfortunately the age where I discovered “Sun In” … Yes ladies, you know what I’m talking about and you had that atrocious orange hair right along with me. It was the evil start of something beautiful.
I was not born with a beautiful hair color, and my grey mousey brown is always in need of more than a little enhancement. I have been using an array of professional color lines from the beauty supply but though I would give the Frederic Fekkai Salon Color line at Sephora a chance even though it was a box kit which I usually avoid.
The kit comes with a decent quality mixing brush and bowl, so you don’t have to ruin any of your dishes…I liked this a lot. Next you get a pre-color treatment that helps prevent uneven color which I thought was a nice step you never see in a box kit. Now came the color and developer, I thought they mixed well and became thick enough that they were not messy or any messier that other dyes I’ve used. And lastly I applied the conditioner. Now the important part…the color, the product came in a box with a lovely woman on the front with the color I figured would soon be mine know as Jennifer 4 (dark brown).
So did I rinse and become the beautiful model Jennifer 4 on the box? No, but I looked pretty damn good after a blowout and a well applied makeup application. Jennifer 4 Dark Brown looked rich and luscious on the box but I was a little shocked as my dark brown came across more like light black to me. It took me a few days to get use to it but I ended up really liking the color and as it faded a little bit it became a perfect even, rich color with a very pretty tone. For the record, seems that the brunettes shades lean on the darker side so that’s something to be aware of. Also, if you are looking for grey coverage this dye rocked. Would I use it again? Yes, I plan too.

About a month ago I was in search of a light, fresh summer fragrance. I ended up picking up a scent that shall remain nameless. While it had some of the notes I was looking for, unfortunately its lasting power left A LOT to be desired. Now with just over a month left to our summer, I finally got to try Kenzo’s KenzoAmour Florale. I should have known my beloved Kenzo would have something that hit the spot.
KenzoAmour Florale opens with top notes of neroli, grapefruit, black currant and cardamom to sharply contrast the original KenzoAmour. The neroli, grapefruit and black currant are prominant in the opening as to be expected but the cardamom is there to tone down the initial sweetness just a bit. It’s not long before you’re into the heart of scent with its floral with notes of frangipani, rose and gardenia. The frangipani in this scent commands yours attention as the base of white musk and cedar start coming into play.
Overall, KenzoAmour Florale is right up my alley for a summer scent. The citrus notes give it some freshness while the spice and woody notes give it some edge to prevent it from becoming sickeningly sweet or overly floral. If the original KenzoAmour was a little too warm for you, I think you’ll find this new floral version is just right. My only regret is not trying this sooner!

When it comes to concealer, my immediate concern is not my under-eye area. I’m actually more worried about concealing some of the hormonal issues I’ve been dealing with along my jawline. I’ve tried A LOT of different products in my quest to conceal this problem area of mine. I thought I had found something that worked for me but when I tried Sephora’s Kat Von D Tattoo Concealer, I changed my mind.
Thankfully, I’m pretty happy with the rest of my skin. Besides the occasional blemish in other areas, I do not have any other major issues that powder or a dab of liquid foundation won’t take care but when it comes to this other area, I need to bring in the big guns. With Sephora’s Kat Von D Tattoo Concealer, I get full coverage from a concealer with a fantastic liquid formula.
What’s great is about this concealer is its wear. When I was in NY 2 weeks ago meeting up with my fellow Beauty Bloggerati, I was nervous about what the heat and humidity would do to my makeup. Even though I was overheating, my problem area was still concealed and the coverage lasted the ENTIRE day. Sure, it wasn’t quite fully in tact and it required a few touch ups but what makeup wouldn’t in muggy weather? For the most part, it held up beautifully. With other products, the area is dried out but this concealer doesn’t do that at all with my skin.
The other good thing about Sephora’s Kat Von D Tattoo Concealer is that it’s completely buildable without feeling heavy or looking cakey. To give you an idea of the kind of coverage this product can provide, check out what Kat Von D looks like with her famous tattoos covered up. She’s gorgeous with and without tattoos, right?
The only downside here is that this product is only available in 3 shades. While I can find something to match my skin tone (I actually picked up the medium shade to mix it in with the light shade), darker skin tones are out of luck. It’s a shame really, a product this good needs to be more diverse.

I know, it’s been awhile since I’ve brought you anything new but I’m back now and ready for action! Product Girl is reporting for duty. With that said, I have to introduce you to one my current obsessions: Sara Happ’s Lip Scrub in Cocoa.
If you’re like me, and by that I mean obsessed with lip balms and products of that sort, you’ve probably heard of Sara Happ and her Lip Scrubs… if not, well, you’re in for a treat. I resisted the temptation until I was in Vancouver last month, when I was finally was able to see the product in person for the first time. Once I saw it, the only decision left to be made was choosing a flavor to bring home with me.
I finally decided on Sara Happ’s Lip Scrub in Cocoa, just opening up the jar and smelling it had me hooked immediately… now I can’t get enough of this product, it’s a complete treat for your lips. The texture is great for getting rid of any dry, flaky skin on your lips without being too abrasive. When you’re done using it, your lips are as smooth as silk and deliciously sweet. While the price may seem a little steep for a lip product, consider how much product you’re really getting. All you need is a few little granules to do the job and at that rate, I probably have enough for a whole year.
