I’m always intrigued when a cosmetic company does something that’s outside of the norm. Jouer Cosmetics has some very interesting packaging that is definitely outside the norm. Their products were recently used on Freida Pinto and helped her look gorgeous at the Golden Globes. This sparked some curiosity about Jouer Cosmetics.
I’ve been playing with some products from Jouer Cosmetics for a week now and I love their packaging. Their packaging design is very unique, you can build a custom palette out of most products by sliding them into place or stacking them back to back. They are all labeled on the front side so it’s very clear which kind of product you would be opening. All the fuss about the packaging doesn’t mean the products themselves are lacking, absolutely not.
Do you ever buy a product, take it home and then forget all about it? I forgot all about Nivea’s A Kiss of Shine Red Glossy Lip Care until I found it hiding from me in a bin. Now that we’ve been reunited, we’ve been enjoying our time together.
Nivea’s A Kiss of Shine Red Glossy Lip Care coats your lips like a nice, thick moisturizing lip balm but leaves them shinning like a freshly applied coat of lip gloss. To top it off, it leaves behind a soft red tint that is soft enough for anyone to wear. It is as if a stain, lip balm and gloss got married and reproduced. I love that this product doesn’t leave my lips feeling sticky or tacky. You know how some lipglosses you can really rub your lips together with? Not the case with this one. Factor in the cost and you really have no reason why you shouldn’t give this product a try. I think you’ll like it.
If you’re not crazy about the red, not to worry… there’s also a pink and clear shades available.

Have you been to the MAC Cosmetics website lately? They got a makeover and dare I say it, it’s sexy!
It may take some getting use to, a few things have moved around a bit but you’ll find the new website is sleek and sophisticated. One feature to check out while you’re there is Colour Play, it allows you to explore different products by area, product form, finish and coverage in your color of choice.
Red carpet coverage would not be complete without mentioning Anne Hathaway. Here’s the scoop on Anne’s makeup last night straight from Lancome:
Anne donned a beautiful white Grecian-inspired dress with gold detail at the neckline and waist. Celebrity makeup artist Kate Lee created a dramatic smokey eye by applying dark eyeliner to the upper lash line and blended it on the eyelid. To make Anne’s eyes pop, she applied several coats of Lancôme Ôscillation Mascara in Black for a faux-lash effect. Kate opted for a soft, stained pout. She applied Lancôme Le Lipstique lip liner in Sheer Natural to the entire lip, then coated the lips with Lancôme Color Fever Gloss in Seductive for a glossy finish.
What did you think of Angelina Jolie last night? It’s hard for this woman to look anything but stunning but I wasn’t completely enamored with her dress. The color was lovely but it felt way too frumpy for Miss Jolie. I loved the hair and makeup though. Here’s the scoop straight from Lancome on her makeup last night:
Angelina looked stunning in a dark, navy blue Max Azria gown. Celebrity makeup artist Mary Burton wanted to create a 60’s look and chose to focus on Angelina’s eyes by applying lots of eyeliner and mascara. She used Lancome Artliner in Noir just above the lash line. To compliment Angelina’s eye color and to make her eyes really stand out, she applied a bluish grey eyeshadow (YSL Ombre Solo Double Effect Eyeshadow in #3 Blue Silk) to the eyelid. Finally, she applied several coats of Lancome Courbe Virtuôse Mascara in Black. Mary added a touch of pink to the apples of the cheeks using Shu Uemura blush in M Pink 31. To create ultra-shiny and luminous lips, Mary used Lancome Color Fever Gloss in Rose Jolie.
America Ferrera never dissapoints, she always looks great at every event she attends. At last night’s SAG Awards she looked fabulous once again. She wore a beautiful Vera Wang beige chiffon gown, with black trim accented by a giant flower at her hip. Makeup artist Linda Hay wanted her make up to have a fresh and romantic feel, yet very modern to compliment her gown so she decided on a very simple eye, a peachy cheek and a deep red lip.
Linda began creating her look by lightly evening America’s complexion using YSL’s Touche Eclat where necessary, around the eyes, the nose and the corners of the mouth, followed by a light dusting of powder. She then applied Shu Uemura’s “Peche” directly to the apple of the cheek for a fresh, youthful look.
For the eyes, she drew a fine line on the top eyelid with Jouer’s eye definer “Mure”. Using a large flat eye brush, Linda gently swept a shimmering white shadow from Cle de Peu’s #14 Eye Quad, across the entire lid, up and into the brow. With a smaller pointed eye brush she lined the silver shadow from the same palette to the bottom lid and from the inside corner to the outside corner of the eye. The inside of the eye was lined with Jouer’s eye clarifier “Clair”. Finally, Linda applied three generous coats of Chanel mascara to both top and bottom lashes. The brow was strong and well defined using Anastasia’s Brow Kit. Finally on the lips, she used Mac’s “Viva Glam.”

Kate Winslet looked amazing tonight as she won her award for Best Supporting Actress in The Reader. She was gorgeous in this vibrant blue dress by Narciso Rodriguez. Her hair was done by Frederic Fekkai stylist Renato Campora and celebrity makeup artist Jillian Dempsey.
As for Kate’s hair, here’s how you can get the look:
Apply Fekkai More All Day Density Mousse to wet hair for added volume. On the bottom portion only apply Fekkai Coiff Magnifique to ends for a smooth blowout and to protect hair from the heat of styling tools. Using the Fekkai Extra Large Round Brush blow dry hair and part on the right side. Once completely dry, use a one inch curling iron throughout hair to create tousled movement with dimension. Apply Fekkai Technician Glaze to ends working it through with fingers for texture that is not too heavy. Tease the top of the head ever so slightly to create a touch of height. Next pull hair back into a low ponytail. Create a loose braid and twist it around to form a bun. Secure with pins. Making a braid helps to keep the bun from appearing to severe and gives it the soft modern touch.
Tonight is the Screen Actor’s Guild Awards and I was browsing around at images from the red carpet and immediately one actress stood out to me, Claire Danes… she looks stunning.
To me, Claire Danes is like a fine wine. She keeps getting better with age. She’s no longer that teenager that pined away for Jordan Catalano years ago. She always looks polished and pulled together. Her look tonight just seems so graceful. I’m not wild about the dress but it does work overall. Claire’s makeup and hair compliment the dress well and everything looks good together. It’s simple yet she looks gorgeous and elegant.
