Shop Pink: Tweezerman’s BCA Slant Tweezers

Tweezerman BCA Slant Tweezers Aren’t these tweezers adorable? You already know Tweezerman makes good tweezers so now you can pick up a pair to support Breast Cancer Awareness. With all the cute little pink bows all over each pair, how could you not? 🙂

Tweezerman will donate $1 from each purchase of their BCA Slant Tweezers to the Breast Cancer Research Fund and you can never have too many pairs of tweezers, at least that’s the case in my house… we have at least 4 pairs floating around at any given time!

Don’t forget that Tweezerman has free sharpening as long as the pair of tweezers are in good condition. I’m getting ready to send a few pairs in for sharpening now, I’ll let you know how that goes.

Shop Pink: Too Faced's Betsy Baby Eyeshadow Duo

Out of all of the products I’ve seen this month for Breast Cancer Awareness, this eyeshadow duo is the one product that intrigues me the most. I love the story behind it.

Too Faced Betsy Baby Eyeshadow Duo Too Faced’s founder Jerrod Blandino is close friends with Sephora’s very own Sr. VP of Marketing Betsy Olum. When Betsy was diagnosed with breast cancer, Jerrod was there for her and during one of their chats, she joked about him bringing back her favorite discontinued shadow named Heiress. Not only did Too Faced bring the shadow back but Jerrod worked with Betsy to develop a coordinating highlighting shade. This is how Too Faced’s Betsy Baby Eyeshadow Duo was born. What’s even better is the amount donated per purchase. Sephora and Too Faced are teaming up to donate a combined $9 for the sale of each duo to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Too Faced’s Betsy Baby Eyeshadow Duo is a beautiful duo and the shades are very wearable. If there’s one BCA product you should have, it’s this one. It’s easy on the wallet and goes on beautifully.

Shop Pink: Perfect Gardenia

Sarah Horowitz Parfums Perfect Gardenia Eau de Parfum One of my favorite perfumers, Sarah Horowitz Parfums (also formerly known as Creative Scentualization) has gone pink for the month of October.

For every web sale of their Perfect Gardenia Eau de Parfum in the 1.7oz size and every jar of their Perfect Gardenia Body Creme in the 9.2 oz size, they will donate 15% sale price to the Sloan Kettering Foundation for breast cancer research. This means they’ll donate $11.25 for perfume and $6 for each body creme ordered through their website.

This line has some great scents and I have yet to regret something I’ve tried from Sarah Horowitz Parfums.

Alima Pure: New Face in Mineral Makeup

I have always been a fan of mineral makeup – the concept of pure ingredients that would not clog or irritate skin totally gets me! However, the last time I tried to apply Bare Minerals foundation, I ended up spilling half a jar on the guy sitting next to me in the subway. “Ooopsie!” was all I could say, in the meantime I retired my mineral makeup routine until I found this new line, Alima Pure.

Alima Pure is a mineral makeup line based in Portland, Oregon. Founded in 2004, it became the 2nd company to obtain the BDIH natural cosmetics certification, a German certification for natural cosmetics. Also Alima Pure is cruelty free, never tests on animals.

I am in love with their simple, quaint sparrow packaging. They use quality jars that have just enough holes in the sifters so that the messy mineral situation is avoided. The first product I tried was the Satin Finishing Powder. This can be worn instead of foundation for those who don’t need much coverage. It comes in 6 flesh-toned shades and definitely provides enough coverage for day wear to simply ward off oily skin and even out skin tone. When applied over foundation, Satin Finishing Powder provides a flawless, airbrush-finished quality.

I was extremely impressed by the Satin Matte Blush in Pink. The jar is actually very generously sized. I spread a couple of “dots” of this color with a blush brush and achieve the most beautiful pink kewpie glow.

Alima Pure Luminous Shimmer EyelinerI was confused by the Luminous Shimmer Eyeliner in Paparazzi though. I’ll admit, I was a little intimidated by powder liner, not really sure how to apply it but I mixed some bottled water in the cap of the product, scraped a little of it onto my liner brush and applied like a liquid. I found it very hard to get a natural, straight line. Soon after, I met up with a friend and she stopped me mid-sentence to point out the rings I had above my eyes from the liner. It could be that I used too much water so the formula didn’t set right. Since the color is such a pretty sparkly brown, I’ve tried using it as a shadow and it works like a charm!

Alima Pure has a wide range of mineral makeup, most available for $1 sample jars, and if you’ve ever tried mineral makeup you know that a little goes a long way.

Laura Mercier's Lip Velvet

Laura Mercier Lip Velvet I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… I love lip stains and matte lipstick. I obsess over those things to no end. When I saw Laura Mercier introduce her Lip Velvet line with her Cherries Noir collection, I had to check these out.

Laura Mercier’s Lip Velvet are richly pigmented lip colors that go on like a gloss but they leave a matte finish on your lips. The formula feels great, it’s nice and cushion-ey (I know that’s not a word) on the lips. What’s also great about this product is it’s lasting power. It lasts for hours like a stain but you still feel the product on your lips. I’m loving that I’m able to wear this formula well into the afternoon without major color loss. I’ve found that it does not completely dry out my lips either, this product does contain some moisturizing ingredients to help lips in the moisture department.

I did experience some slight bleeding but that’s something I could easily fix with a reverse lip liner… that’s not nearly enough to stop me from using these lip colors. I started with one sent to me by a PR rep and since then I’ve picked up the rest!

Have you tried Laura Mercier’s Lip Velvet? What did you think?

Duty Free Beauty: Bobbi Brown Pink Shimmer Brick with Brush

When I was little and we’d go visit family in Portugal, my mother would buy me something on the flight from New York to Lisbon. I have a weakness for Swatch watches so every time we’d travel to my parents home, I’d get a Swatch. I thought of this during my return flight from Paris to Houston and thought I owed myself a grown up travel gift. That ended up being a Bobbi Brown Pink Shimmer Brick with Brush.

Now I know that I could have gotten this at home but I lured in by the brush! I picked this up for $42 US. When you compare that to it’s retail price of $38 for the compact alone and add in sales tax and perhaps shipping depending on how you purchase this, that’s a pretty good deal. Right? That’s what I told myself anyhow.

So what’s the moral of this story? Next time you’re on an international flight, make sure you check out what duty free items are available to you! Check back to see the travel palettes from Chanel, Guerlain and Lancome… those are the real lookers from my trip.
