Book an appointment and learn how to use the new Python Palette for fall. Tim Quinn and his A-Team will show customers how to use the grey taupe, dark iridescent grey and luminous grey pearl shades to create three different looks depending on one’s mood or the time of day – natural, mysterious or dramatic.

You may have noticed that Laura Mercier’s Eye Basics have a new look but what you might have missed is the introduction of the new Eyebright shade.
This new shade is a light blue cream that helps brighten up tired eyes instantly. Don’t be afraid of this little blue tube! I was a little hesitant at first but after some quality time with the SA at the Laura Mercier counter, I looked wide awake and fresh in the middle of the afternoon thanks to this new Eye Basic. If applied correctly, you can’t even see the blue on your lids, all you can see if that your eyes look brighter than they did before. Now that’s not to say that you can’t build up the intensity and paint a lovely shade of pastel blue on your lids but I think it’s safe to say that’s not how Ms. Mercier envisioned this product being used… at least not this shade.
Brightening is not the only benefit to this product, this makes a great primer for eyeshadow. It helps keep eyeshadow from creasing for hours, this holds up pretty well on my kryptonite lids. Laura Mercier’s Eye Basics also do double duty by using ingredients to soothe and protect eye lids like Vitamins A, E and C and anti-oxidants.

We’ve looked at the 25th anniversary collection so how about taking a look at what Shu Uemura has released for the fall? With fall now officially upon us, it’s only fitting.

I haven’t had a chance to peak at this collection in person (that will be tomorrow!) but I can already tell I’m going to be drawn to the Luring Powder and the Glow On blush in Steam. I’m imagining the first one will be a bit like Benefit’s Georgia powder only with a nice shimmer to it and maybe a little darker.

I’m soooo late in posting about this but let’s file this in the “better late than never” category because this collection is fabulous… as is all Shu.
This June marked the 25th anniversary of Shu Uemura’s first Beauty Boutique in Tokyo. To celebrate this anniversary, the brand released their 25th anniversary collection featuring 3 fragrances and 3 palettes with packaging designed by Tokyo based artist Gwenael Nicolas. Even though this collection is a summer release, there are options you can work with for fall!
The first palette is the Fleur de Rose palette. This one is the more “go to” palette for me, the shades in it make for a few great everyday looks. This is the palette I was able to try out. Then there are the Fleur de Source and Fleur de Terre palettes which are both inspired by spring. The Fleur de Terre palette is down to earth with a few more “user friendly” shades but still manages to kick it up a little with the vibrant green and bright pink. Then finally the Fleur de Source features some great blue shades ranging from light blue to a more darker grayish blue. My favorite shade in this palette is the another vibrant green eyeshadow, it’s different than the one in the previous palette and gorgeous! This is the kind of palette you go for to have some fun with your eyeshadow.
These palettes are a little bit on the pricey side but the eyeshadows are they are what you come to expect from Shu Uemura, at least what I expect; richly pigmented shadows that blend like a dream! I’m a bit a beauty collector, meaning I buy things I’ll never use just to add them to my stash but palette is an exception.. I actually use it.
Along with these palettes, the brand released a limited edition Shimmer Liquid Eyeliner and a trio of perfumes in Fleur de Rose, Fleur de Terre and Fleur de Source to go along with the palettes.
I’ve tried each one of these scents and they are right up my alley, each one smells amazing. If you like warmer scents, these perfumes are worth experiencing and I think they would work well in the fall and into the winter. I was sent a bottle of the Fleur de Rose and as the name suggests, it does feature a rose note but it’s not over the top. It’s not an exaggerated rose, it’s a more natural rose mixed with amber. Then there’s Fleur de Terre, the earthier of the 3 scents. This scent features notes of Italian bergamot and rosemary. Finally, there’s the Fleur de Source. This scent is a spicier floral and it features notes of basil, papyrus and coriander. It may sound like ingredients in a spice cabinet but these notes work really well together here.
Remember that L’Oreal Feria party I talked about last month? Total Beauty held a contest and is taking 3 bloggers who particpated to Paris with them and I’m one of them!
The three were chosen by the number of votes their before and after photos received. When I was told I won a trip to Paris, I was in complete shock because I am not that person… I’m not the girl who wins things like this. That shock has continued into the next day. I am very excited even though I briefly thought of turning it down (hey, I’m shy!) but it’s the chance of a lifetime and I can’t pass that up… plus I get to meet fellow beauty bloggers that I’ve been talking to for a few years including the lovely Julia from All About the Pretty and Cailin from The Beauty Bunny, who also won the contest.
I leave next Thursday, October 2nd and I come back on Wednesday, October 8th. Considering I’ll be turning the big 3-0 on the 23rd, this makes a fantastic birthday gift! I do plan to continue blogging from Paris, I’m bringing my laptop, camera and my Flip video camera so there will be lots to see while I’m gone. Everytime I walk into Target, I tell myself I will not spend more than a certain amount of money… that’s usually about $50 but I always seem to go past that amount. Now there’s yet another reason to stray from my intended budget when I walk into Target; the arrival of Jemma Kidd, Napoleon Perdis and Petra Strand’s lines are now in Target beauty isles.

I was very excited to hear that these lines were coming to a Target near me. I finally have access to Jemma Kidd’s products in person! While it’s not her original line, I’m very happy to see the JK Jemma Kidd line at Target. Price wise, these lines are all more expensive than the other lines the store carries but the prices for the Napoleon Perdis NP Set line, for instance, has products with more wallet friendly prices then I would see for the original line in Sephora. With that said, I’ve already spent about $100 and I only have 5 pieces to show for it. 😉
Out of the three lines, the one I’m drawn to the most is Pixi by Petra Strand. It reminds me a lot of Benefit when it comes to the products the line features… like their Pixi Brow Lift. It’s light pink/peach highlighter you draw along your brow bone to give your eyes a lift. I picked it up and it’s been in my makeup bag lately as one of those quick fix products to perk me up in a hurry. Hmm, what line is all about quick fixes?
Another thing about this line is that they don’t shy away from the lip and cheek stains. Stains are my absolute favorite type of beauty product and I’m so happy to see that Pixi has not one or two but three stain products! I’ve already picked up a few of her Lip Blushes and have the rest on my to-do list. Then there’s so the Pixi Rose Lip Treat, a tinted lip balm packed with a little more pigment than your average tinted lip balm.
I think of Pixi as the practical line. JK Jemma Kidd comes to mind as the more elegant of the three then NP Set as the younger, hip line. Given that I’ve just been sucked into the Pixi display every time I’ve been to Target recently, I haven’t really experimented with much of the other lines… that’s on the to-do list as well. I’ve picked up a few products though, not a lot but it’s definitely peaked my interest for more. Here are some of the things on my list:

Guess who is Cover Girl’s newest face? This morning they have confirmed that Ellen DeGeneres is Cover Girl’s newest face.
“Ellen is the quintessential CoverGirl. She is smart, confident, natural, and beautiful from the inside out. Her beauty and down-to-earth personality fit perfectly with what CoverGirl represents.” said Esi Eggleston Bracey, Vice President and General Manager of Global Cosmetics for Procter & Gamble Beauty. I think this is a very smart move on Cover Girl’s part. Did the summer just fly by you in the blink of an eye? It did for me too but I’m just fine with that because my favorite time of year is almost here. Not only is October my birthday month but it starts getting cooler, all the colors of fall start to emerge and of course we have Halloween.
