What’s in My Bag?

What's in Carla's Bag Today I’m showing you all what’s in my bag. My bag is usually a mess but I cleaned it up a bit though, taking all my receipts and empty gum wrappers out. I don’t want you all seeing how messy I really am! What you see here is a little more than what I usually carry with me, it really depends on how much time I have in the morning. This morning I had more time than usual so I brought some things to touch up with during the day like the NARS Multiple and Suki lip color. This is the Lane bag in Tabacco and it was a gift from Ruehl No. 925. It really roomy and the leather is really soft… no stiffness here.

What's in Carla's Bag

Now onto what I have in it…

  • I got to have my sunglasses. I use to buy cheap pairs of glasses but for the first time I actually spent more than $15 on a pair.
  • Coach wristlet, because I hate carrying around a big huge wallet. This way I have just the essentials. Plus I use it at the gym to store my keys.
  • My Weight Watchers paraphernalia, my journal, welcome book and point counter.
  • Floss, gum, cell phone, mini notebook, glass nail file and convertible hair brush.
  • Elizabeth Arden’s 8 Hour Hand Cream: this stuff is great and helps my hands deal with all the paperwork I have on my desk.
  • Boscia Blotting Linens in Rose.
  • Benefit’s Erase Paste (review coming soon).
  • Cargo PlantLove lipstick in Lola.
  • BillyB Beauty brush #9, Bare Escentuals Flawless Face brush and Smashbox brush #19 (thank you eBay!).
  • Sample of Bobbi Brown’s Hydrating Face Cream that I’m going to try later.
  • Suki Pure Color Cream Stain in Clay.
  • Dr. Hauschka Lip Care Stick
  • Dr. Hauschka Liquid Concealer
  • Trish McEvoy’s Base Essential and Essential Pencil.
  • Laura Mercier
  • Prescriptives Here to Stay Mascara
  • Yves St. Laurent Touche Eclat
  • By Terry Rose Baume Stick
  • Prescriptives Camouflage Cream
  • Bobbi Brown Blemish Cover Stick
  • Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage
  • Revlon Makeup Eraser
  • The Balm Sexy Mama Translucent Pressed Powder, this stuff is great, a review is coming soon!
  • Jane Iredale Pure Pressed Minerals
  • Benefit’s Eye Bright
  • Bobbi Brown Lip Crayon
  • NARS The Multiple in Orgasm
  • and Urban Decay’s Ink, I’m so sad this is discontinued.

Can you see a pattern here? I don’t even use these concealing products all at once but I can’t bare to take them out of my bag. The Laura Mercier concealer was an impulse buy I regret but I keep wanting to give it another chance. I might swap it… who knows. There are always a few things I’m testing in my bag as well. The Dr. Hauschka and Benefit concealers are a few of those items.

I Whish This Lived Up to the Hype

Deborah Messing, Jennifer Garner and Brooke Shields are all fans of Whish Body Products. Whish has a reputation for adding luxury to women’s every day shaving routines. I have been using the same old aluminum can of drugstore shave gel for as long as I’ve been shaving my legs so I was excited to try Whish Regency 120 Travel Bag.

Whish Regency 120 Travel Bag The kit includes Papaya Coconut Shave Crave (shaving cream), Papaya Coconut Shave Savour (aftershave) and Original Body Brush, all housed in an adorable vinyl cosmetic bag. Unlike most other women’s shaving products, Shave Crave comes in a plastic jar and is meant to be applied with the Body Brush, an old-fashioned animal-hair shave brush. Once you swirl the brush into the cream, the lather achieved is incomprarable to that which I am used to, but still produced a smooth, nick-free shave. Afterwards, I made sure to use Shave Savour, although I don’t think I’ve ever used an aftershave on my legs before. For a product touted as “Papaya Coconut”, I was surprised that the scent was very mild. Overall, I was satisfied with my shave, but not entirely impressed. Later in the week, I attempted the same process and just as I went to swirl my Body Brush into the Shave Crave, the brush broke in half right in my hands!

I love the concept of taking a little extra time and energy and applying it towards a perfect shave, however I am lead to believe that the quality of Whish products is questionable. The price of this set was $85 and didn’t even last me two shaves.

Cargo's PlantLove Lipstick

There is a variety of shades, some inspired by ecological beauty in Canada, Japan, Ireland, the Mediterranean, Africa, Himalayan highlands and North America then shades in collaboration with Hollywood beauties. Cargo collaborated with Angie Harmon, Kim Raver, Denise Richards, Evangeline Lily, Lindsay Lohan, Maria Menounos, Mariska Hargitay, Sarah Chalke and Courteney Cox to create their ideal lipstick shades. The newest shades are by Angie Harmon, Kim Raver and Denise Richards, which are inspired by their children.

The lipstick itself is fantastic, the formula is goes on smooth and creamy. It contains meadowfoam seed oil, jojoba and shea butter so it won’t leave your lips feeling dry. The shades I tried, Lola and Sagarmatha, are well pigments and wore really well. I still have color on my lips even after my lunch. Preserve the Earth with Boscia

With Earth Day, Boscia wants you to “preserve the earth” and remember to make more natural choices. This company has developed a line of preservative and chemical free products that are worth a look.

Boscia Purifying Cleansing Gel and Oil Free Hydration with SPF 15 We in the Product Girl household have been using some of Boscia’s products for a little while and so far, we like what we see. My favorites are the Purifying Cleansing Gel and Oil Free Daily Hydration with SPF 15. The cleanser feels soothing even though it deep cleans. It doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight all. All you need is a little bit to form a nice lather and off you go. As for the moisturizer, it’s not greasy or heavy which are things we look for in a moisturizer. It has a thinner consistency so it spreads easily and sinks in very quickly. This moisturizer also helped to control excess oil on our skin and has SPF 15, so we’re definitely happy about that. It would be nice to see a little more SPF but this is a good start. For oily skin gals, this is great stuff.

Boscia Blotting Linens While I just started using the skincare recently, like me, you may be more familiar with Boscia’s Blotting Linens. These little books of 100 linens helps absorb excess oil on your skin with 100% natural abaca leaf fibers. They comes in six different scents: Fresh, Green Tea, Lavender, Rose, California Orange and Peppermint. I’ve been bouncing back between Green Tea and Rose and I love how they leave a soft scent on your skin. I can still smell the rose scent on my skin after I’ve blotted.

A few interesting facts about Boscia on Earth Day…

  • Boscia features two unique ingredients in every product: organically-grown jojoba leaf and willowherb. The preservative-free products not only free your skin of chemical irritation, they also reverse the symptoms that preservatives have been known to trigger, like acne, redness, and inflammation.
  • Boscia uses “clean room” technology to insure the highest level of cleanliness and have designed a “green” facility that mandates energy-efficiency and environmentally-friendly practices throughout production. The facility is designed on a vertical structure and accordingly, the assembly line begins on the top floor of the building and moves down, using gravity to move products from one process to the next.

Next time you’re in Sephora, take a look at this line… Mother Earth will thank you for it.

Go Green with Tweezerman

Tweezerman Go Green Mini Slant Tweezers What gal doesn’t need a pair of tweezers? Tweezerman’s Go Green Mini Slant Tweezers are perfect for Earth Day. These tweezers are a smaller size to save on production, the packaging is 100% recyclable and uses soy ink for it’s printing. Also, $1.00 from every sale goes to the National Arbor Foundation. This means that with every “Go Green” tweezer purchased, a new tree is planted. That’s definitely a good reason to tweeze.

Another thing that’s good to know is that Tweezerman offers free sharpening as long as your tweezers are dull due to normal use. I have a few pairs I could send for sharpening myself. Check back with us on Monday, we’ll be giving away a few pairs of Tweezerman’s limited edition Animal Prints tweezers.

Celebrate Earth Day at Kiehl's

Kiehl's Earth Day Tote Tomorrow is Earth Day and what better way to celebrate it than by recycling? Kiehl’s will be giving away a reusable canvas tote bag to the first 50 patrons to return empty Kiehl’s bottles to one of their free-standing stores for recycling. Recycle and get rewarded for it. Not bad, right?

Looking for something to check out while you’re there? Kiehl’s introduced their new Superbly Restorative collection this month. It’s a collection of body products that help restore and maintain hydration, elasticity, and smoothness of skin and hair. It features 100% organic, fairly traded Argan Oil and recycled plastic bottles. Those are things that you can feel good about buying.
