Shannon at A Girl’s Gotta Spa is hosting several beauty auctions from now until the end of May to Benefit Meadow Quinn. Meadow is a 7 year old girl in Pennsylvania who suffers from a disease called Neurofibromatosis. This little girl has several inoperable tumors and has been on a feeding tube for 18 months now. Unfortunately, her insurance company has refused to pay for the cost of a treatment that would help her get off the feeding tube. She needs $70,000 for this treatment and so far $42,000 has been raised.
Want to help raise the rest? Head over to A Girl’s Gotta Spa and check out the auctions containing products from MAC Cosmetic’s limited edition collections (Fafi, Heatherette, Antiquitease, N, etc.), Berwick Beauty, Elizabeth Arden, Solessence and NARS. You can also donate directly to Meadow via check. You can find more information on helping here.
Today we’re taking a peek at what’s in Daneen’s bag. Daneen publishes the amazing Spoiled Pretty blog and says that she’s a lipstick/gloss fiend. You’ll never find her with less than five lip products in her purse. Here’s what she says:
Makeup is my first love, but bags are a very close second. I often contemplate starting a bag blog, to justify my compulsion. But between work and Spoiled Pretty, I only have enough hours left to eat and sleep! The Silom Square Diana Large Hobo was a gift from the designer, Rafe Totengco. He gave it to me to schlepp around my stuff at New York Fashion Week – Fall 2008. It even came with a note, which read “Hi Daneen, Enjoy the bag & blog it out! xoxo, Rafe”. Now onto it’s contents:

I recently got my hands on a tube of Estee Lauder’s Tender Lip Balm in Tender Plum and I’ve been telling anyone who will listen how much I love this stuff. Love. It.
The Tender line is a balm/gloss hybrid. The focus here is on keeping your lips soft, smooth, and only faintly colored. The 6-shade collection (ranging from caramel to peach, with a few pinks and a clear in there for good measure) features an SPF of 15 and tastes so good. Even if you usually hate lip balm that has a discernable scent/taste- give this a try. It’s light and juicy. The tube itself is adorable; the size of an index finger, which makes for great portability.
Estee claims the balm improves lip moisturization by 28% and reduces flaking by 34%. While my results certainly aren’t clinical, I will say that my lips feel pretty moist and unflakey. Bottom line is that the Tender Balm looks good, it tastes good, it feels good – the trifecta of goodness. For $14, snag a tube for yourself wherever Estee Lauder is sold.
In case you haven’t seen Miley Cyrus’ face on every magazine cover, TV commercial, DVD, or gossip blog, now you can stare at her in your very own home. Disney teamed up with Avon to create a bath and body collection featuring Hannah Montana herself. Avon is targeting tweens and fans of the show with some playful products that are fun and girly. The packaging features Cyrus’ face on every label, along with pink and purple butterflies and flowers.
The comprehensive line features a yummy green apple-scented 2 in 1 and Shampoo and Detangler, Vitamin E and Aloe Shower Gel, Hand Cream and Vanilla Lip Balm. It is reasonably priced, ranging from $.99 to $3.99. I wonder when Hannah Montana the Perfume will be out.
Today I’m showing you all what’s in my bag. My bag is usually a mess but I cleaned it up a bit though, taking all my receipts and empty gum wrappers out. I don’t want you all seeing how messy I really am! What you see here is a little more than what I usually carry with me, it really depends on how much time I have in the morning. This morning I had more time than usual so I brought some things to touch up with during the day like the NARS Multiple and Suki lip color. This is the Lane bag in Tabacco and it was a gift from Ruehl No. 925. It really roomy and the leather is really soft… no stiffness here.
Now onto what I have in it…
- I got to have my sunglasses. I use to buy cheap pairs of glasses but for the first time I actually spent more than $15 on a pair.
- Coach wristlet, because I hate carrying around a big huge wallet. This way I have just the essentials. Plus I use it at the gym to store my keys.
- My Weight Watchers paraphernalia, my journal, welcome book and point counter.
- Floss, gum, cell phone, mini notebook, glass nail file and convertible hair brush.
- Elizabeth Arden’s 8 Hour Hand Cream: this stuff is great and helps my hands deal with all the paperwork I have on my desk.
- Boscia Blotting Linens in Rose.
- Benefit’s Erase Paste (review coming soon).
- Cargo PlantLove lipstick in Lola.
- BillyB Beauty brush #9, Bare Escentuals Flawless Face brush and Smashbox brush #19 (thank you eBay!).
- Sample of Bobbi Brown’s Hydrating Face Cream that I’m going to try later.
- Suki Pure Color Cream Stain in Clay.
- Dr. Hauschka Lip Care Stick
- Dr. Hauschka Liquid Concealer
- Trish McEvoy’s Base Essential and Essential Pencil.
- Laura Mercier
- Prescriptives Here to Stay Mascara
- Yves St. Laurent Touche Eclat
- By Terry Rose Baume Stick
- Prescriptives Camouflage Cream
- Bobbi Brown Blemish Cover Stick
- Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage
- Revlon Makeup Eraser
- The Balm Sexy Mama Translucent Pressed Powder, this stuff is great, a review is coming soon!
- Jane Iredale Pure Pressed Minerals
- Benefit’s Eye Bright
- Bobbi Brown Lip Crayon
- NARS The Multiple in Orgasm
- and Urban Decay’s Ink, I’m so sad this is discontinued.
Can you see a pattern here? I don’t even use these concealing products all at once but I can’t bare to take them out of my bag. The Laura Mercier concealer was an impulse buy I regret but I keep wanting to give it another chance. I might swap it… who knows. There are always a few things I’m testing in my bag as well. The Dr. Hauschka and Benefit concealers are a few of those items.
Deborah Messing, Jennifer Garner and Brooke Shields are all fans of Whish Body Products. Whish has a reputation for adding luxury to women’s every day shaving routines. I have been using the same old aluminum can of drugstore shave gel for as long as I’ve been shaving my legs so I was excited to try Whish Regency 120 Travel Bag.
The kit includes Papaya Coconut Shave Crave (shaving cream), Papaya Coconut Shave Savour (aftershave) and Original Body Brush, all housed in an adorable vinyl cosmetic bag. Unlike most other women’s shaving products, Shave Crave comes in a plastic jar and is meant to be applied with the Body Brush, an old-fashioned animal-hair shave brush. Once you swirl the brush into the cream, the lather achieved is incomprarable to that which I am used to, but still produced a smooth, nick-free shave. Afterwards, I made sure to use Shave Savour, although I don’t think I’ve ever used an aftershave on my legs before. For a product touted as “Papaya Coconut”, I was surprised that the scent was very mild. Overall, I was satisfied with my shave, but not entirely impressed. Later in the week, I attempted the same process and just as I went to swirl my Body Brush into the Shave Crave, the brush broke in half right in my hands!
I love the concept of taking a little extra time and energy and applying it towards a perfect shave, however I am lead to believe that the quality of Whish products is questionable. The price of this set was $85 and didn’t even last me two shaves.

Here’s an eco-friendly lipstick you can really love. It dresses up your lips and gives you a little something extra before you’ve even put it on! Cargo’s PlantLove lipstick features a compostable lipstick case that’s made of corn and you can plant the box and grow your very own wildflowers. What’s not to love here?
There is a variety of shades, some inspired by ecological beauty in Canada, Japan, Ireland, the Mediterranean, Africa, Himalayan highlands and North America then shades in collaboration with Hollywood beauties. Cargo collaborated with Angie Harmon, Kim Raver, Denise Richards, Evangeline Lily, Lindsay Lohan, Maria Menounos, Mariska Hargitay, Sarah Chalke and Courteney Cox to create their ideal lipstick shades. The newest shades are by Angie Harmon, Kim Raver and Denise Richards, which are inspired by their children.
The lipstick itself is fantastic, the formula is goes on smooth and creamy. It contains meadowfoam seed oil, jojoba and shea butter so it won’t leave your lips feeling dry. The shades I tried, Lola and Sagarmatha, are well pigments and wore really well. I still have color on my lips even after my lunch. As an added bonus, $2.00 from each tube sold is donated to St. Jude’s Pediatrics Research Hospital.
While you’re at it, plant a little love on your desktop! Cargo has some gorgeous desktop images inspired by the PlantLove lipsticks that you can dress your desktop up with. You can also plant a virtual flower!
