Here’s another product from Benefit that seems interesting…
Benefit’s Cupid’s Bow is product that helps you enhance the shape of your helps, giving you a sexy, shapely pout. It includes a double ended pencil and a double ended brush. On one end of the pencil, you have a pearl pink tip. When applied to the bow of your lips, it defines the center part of your lips making them appear more pouty. The other end of the pencil is a soft mocha pink tip you can apply right under your bottom lip, this helps the define the bottom lip. The double ended brush helps you blend the color applied to each lip. This has been a makeup artist’s trick for years, now you can have a tool with step by step directions to help you at home.
Don’t the results look great?
Usually I skip primer in the morning but when a primer can help brighten my skin, I can be persuaded to fit it in. 🙂 This is exactly what Benefit’s That Gal does, it’s a primer that can brighten your skin even if you skip foundation for the day. A few of the things I love the most about this product is it’s scent and packaging. While the scent may not be ideal for some, I like it a lot. It reminds me of laundry fresh out of the dryer, the scent of fabric softener on clothes. Then the packaging… remember those glue sticks used in school? That’s what this reminds me off, it’s fun to use. In addition to brightening my skin, I also liked how it left my skin feeling. It was very soft and smooth to the touch. It also helps your skin retain moisture, so gals with drier skin will love this on their face.
Now Benefit is sponsoring the “Are You That Gal” contest with Sephora. They’re looking for the girl who dreams of being a star, has a great personality and loves makeup! That could be you, right? To enter, make a 30 second audion tape that shows why you should be “That Gal” and head over to www.sephora.com/thatgal to upload it. You could win a guest hosting spot on Extra, your photo in Lucky Magazine and on Sephora.com, an audition for talent representation with the William Morris Talent Agency and a year supply of Benefit makeup. That is a prize I would not mind winning.
I’ve mentioned before how my eyelids are like kryptonite for eyeshadow. When I tried Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Stay-in-Place ShadowSticks, I was eager to see if this product would really last.
The good news is that yes, the product really is long lasting. To effectively gauge it’s lasting powder, I shared the product with a co-worker and we both put it to the test. We had good results, we both admired how smudge proof it seemed to be. Within minutes of swatching the eyeshadow sticks on our hands, we couldn’t get the color to budge. If that’s how it performed on my hand, I was eager to try it on my eyes! The first time around, the product didn’t last as long on my lids but when I added a little primer and tried it again, I had color well into the afternoon. As for my co-worker, she didn’t experience any creasing all. It’s was my kryptonite lids, I tell you. While it is smudge resistant after it dries, it does go on easily and blend well before drying. While I ordinarily love shimmer, I would love to see some new matte shades available in this product.
Then don’t! Frederic Fekkai has a great, albeit limited edition product out, called Summer Hair Wash and Wear. It is touted as an “instant shampoo spray.” This stuff is great for getting that one or two extra days out of unwashed hair. I usually wash my hair at the most 2x per week and this product helps it last that one extra day. All you do is spray it all over your dry hair, focusing on the roots, style and go. Summer Hair smells like summer! It has a great coconut/pina coloda-ish smell that lasts for days. I am a fan of Bumble & Bumble’s hair powder as well, but this stuff works a bit better and doesn’t make your hair tacky like the hair powder can.
An important note: the first time i used the product, I just sprayed it in my hair and let it go. Well I had wet hair all day and was not impressed. I soon learned that you have to use a hair dryer to blow the stuff dry into your hair and style like you normally would, but it doesn’t take more than 3 minutes time. As an added bonus, Summer Hair has UV protectors that keep your hair healthy and shiny while in the sun. Oils, product buildup and pollutants are said to be gone.
I am a girl that loves a bargain, especially when it comes to beauty products. Every time Victoria’s Secret announces their blowout sales, I skip the bras and head straight to the beauty section. Right now, there are a handful of great items marked down, which is a rarity in the cosmetics world. I can’t get enough of Anna Sui’s beautiful, luxurious packaging on these eye shadows, lipsticks and cream blushes.
Freeze24/7’s PlumpLips is simply the best lip plumper I have tried. It creates the fullest lip, without all of that red, tingly irritation. You can find it here for only $24.99, too good to pass up.
Make sure to snatch up the product that was on every beauty editor’s “Must Have” list when it first came out, DuWop’s Bronzerush. It’s the compact that we’ve all heard about, now at almost 60% off the original price, we can all try it. You can find it here. Check out other beauty specials from Kevin Aucoin, Demeter, Pout, and YSL as well.
Months after getting highlights, I noticed my normally buttery blonde streaks were fading to white due to frequent shampooing and blow drying, as well as damage caused from the summer sun. I needed to add a color glaze over my highlights to get that white hair blonde again. I comparison “shopped” around local salons and was not ecstatic about the prices I was quoted, especially considering that I had just paid an arm and leg to get the highlights put in only a few months before.
On a whim, I decided to try Sunsilk Blonde Bombshell Color Boost. I had seen the cute commercials on TV, epitomizing the age old “dumb blonde” vs. “smart brunette” battle. I decided I couldn’t lose, considering the product cost about $7, 10x less than most salons wanted to charge me.
I shampooed my hair and then put on the Color Boost instead of conditioner. I found that the tube packaging was easy to use and the texture was thick and creamy yet not as slippery as other “at home” gloss products I had tried. Each time I used it, I noticed subtle changes but after 3 applications my white streaks were gone and I was left with highlights the color of spun gold. It was the right amount of color and shine that I needed. Sunsilk makes several formulations for blondes and brunettes, whether you have highlights or an auburn tint, they have you covered.
First off, I want to apologize for the lack of posts over the last few days. We experienced some technical difficulties with our publishing tool and it seems to be resolved now.
Until recently, I worked at home and didn’t put on my “full face” on a daily basis. Now I’ve been doing this for almost 2 months and I’ve settled on my go to products for my everyday look, a neutral look that I’m very happy with right now. Here’s what I’ve been wearing:
Foundation: Susan Posnick ColorFlo Foundation in M3
Blush: Jane Iredale PurePressed Blush in Barely Rose
Highlighter: Lorac Perfectly Lit Oil-Free Luminizing Powder in Radiant
Eyes: Too Faced Lash Injection Mascara, MAC Cosmetics Paint Pots in Painterly, Mally Beauty Tribeca Taupe Smokey Eye Kit
Lips: Laura Mercier Lip Stain in Shy Pink
The best thing about this look is that it takes me just a few minutes to pull it together and I can easily jazz it up for a night out. It’s also very long lasting so I don’t have to touch up as often at work. Bonus!
So now I’m wondering, what are your everyday go to products? Bonus points for pictures of you in your look or of your makeup bag. You might just win something special from us. Leave some comments, de-lurk for the day.
Now that I go into an office every day, I’ve become all about the palettes, it’s a great way to simplify your beauty routine with everything laid out right in front of you.
Enter Stila’s Fall Fantasy Palettes. Stila has done it again by releasing 3 color co-ordinated palettes in this fall’s hottest colors. The palette pictured here is Moss, which features sheer champagne, khaki shimmer green and dark green shimmer eyeshadows matched with a warm coppery brown blush. The Laguna and Madagascar palettes are equally beautiful. Laguna features sheer silver blue, electric blue-green shimmer and gunmetal silver shadows with a rosy pink blush. Then Madagascar has sheer peachy bronze, rich bronze and warm, dark brown eyeshadows with a rose gold blush. Each palette also comes with an uniquely colored agate necklace, which the stones are believed to have mystical powers. Mystical or not, the colors sure intrigued me. Snap them up before they’re gone, they’re limited edition.
White nail polish has been declared by beauty mags everywhere as the chic alternative to last season’s dark vampy colors. I have been on a quest for the perfect color ever since I read the first blip in Glamour. I have tried just about every shade of white or pale pink across the spectrum, ranging from $2-$20 a bottle. Most of them were deemed unfavorable – they were too chalky, too white, too pink, too pearly, and almost all of them were too sheer. Luckily I found the perfect shade in Brucci’s Princess Di nail polish. Two coats deliver a very flattering, opaque color without any streaks. It looks so fresh on tanned toes. I am addicted to this color and trying to make the most of it before summer disappears.
Shower time is all about getting clean – washing away the dirt and impurities of the day. Frankly, I’ll use just about anything that smells good in the shower but I came across a line of bath lotions, washes, scrubs and more that not only smell great but are 100% pure: no artificial colors, no synthetic fragrances or chemicals, no animal by-products or harsh detergents. In addition, they aren’t full of fillers, thickeners, or water. Aptly enough, the product line is called 100 Percent Pure.
With original scents ranging from Chocolate Mocha, Blood Orange, Vanilla Bean, Lavender, Coconut, Pineapple…I could go on and because there are 18 different ones…I had a hard time choosing one to try. I’m always on the lookout for a great Honey Almond scent, and when I saw theirs I was sold. I tried out the Organic Body Scrub and was delighted to find that I could actually pronounce every single ingredient, which includes: organic apricot oil and rosehip (to moisturize), vitamins C and E, organic lavender honey, extracts of grapefruit seed, almond, cranberry and pomegranate (which are anti-oxidants).
The body scrub works really well. The scrubbing particles had settled at the bottom of the jar, so I used my finger to mix it up with the essential oils. The scrub itself was nice, not abrasive and painful to my sensitive skin, but it definitely did the job. The oils coated my skin, so I was sure to rinse off really well, but didn’t leave it filmy. After toweling off, my skin felt hydrated enough to forgo body lotion, which was a nice surprise. I use the 100 Percent Pure body wash weekly and am already planning which scent I’ll try next.
