I’m starting to explore the world of perfume a bit more than I have before thanks to Autumn at LaCreme Beauty. She’s introducing me to new things I wouldn’t ordinarily try. This product is one of those things.
One of the first things you notice about this product in a such as beautiful store such as La Creme is how unusual this product appears to be. When you take a closer look, you find it’s actually a solid perfume. I love lilac and when I first smelled Lilas Spiritual, I was struck by how natural this fragrance smelled. Some lilac scents I have tried have been sickeningly sweet or synthetic. This scent is fresh and earthy, just like a real lilac. This scent features top notes of clove, lilac; heart notes of lilac, lily of the valley; and base notes of lilac and vanilla. This is just one of the 7 scents in the Shanghaïjava scent collection, inspired by the Far East.
From one multipurpose product to the next, meet Benefit’s newest product, Rush Hour. This product claims it’s an instant makeover for lips and cheeks, a product for the “girl on the go”.
In reality, this product is really nothing new. It’s a lipstick that you can dab on your cheeks, countless women have been doing this for years… including my mother. Depending on the shade, she would even put it on her eyes. But were those lipsticks as creamy as this product? I’m going to guess and say “no”. It’s got this really creamy consistency that makes this product easy to use on cheeks and lips. It also comes in a great universally flattering shade called Sunberry. It’s a soft plum rose shade that will look great on anyone and we put the color to the test. Three of us tried this on and it looked great on all of us… and we have extremely different skin tones. If plum based colors are your thing, pick this up.
I spent New Year’s Eve visiting all of my favorite counters in preparation for coming back and posting again. One of the things that caught my eye was Smashbox’s new Tokidoki collection. For those of you wondering what Tokidoki is, it’s a Japanese anime created by Italian artist Simone LegnoI. You can find more of his work here.
I have never been inclined to try a Smashbox Skin Tint before so it must have been the Tokidoki art that did me in. At first look, the shade Bella may scare off some potential users but this bright pink shade is great. It can give skin a really beautiful, youthful glow. The key here is to start off small and build on the application. I’m using it on my lips and cheeks and it makes me look like I’m a teenager all over again. It also blends really well. Sometimes with stains you have to act fast before it dries up on you but this creamy formula gives you the time you need. Added bonus: it’s oil free and contains vitamins A, C, and E.
You can find this at Sephora now but act quickly… it’s limited edition. You can also find the rest of the collection here.
Raquel Welch is now MAC Cosmetics newest beauty icon following in the footsteps of Catherine Deneuve and Diana Ross with her own themed collection to be released later this month. This collection features quite a few limited edition products. It features 6 lipstick shades, 4 lip gloss shades, 2 blush shades, 3 beauty powders, 2 eyeshadow quads, 2 limited edition brushes, 2 glimmer shimmers and eyelashes.
I’m pretty excited about this collection. Although the packaging does not really appeal to me, the shades of the products certainly do. In particular, I’m looking forward to the eyeshadows and blush. The new products I’m seeing for the upcoming season seem to focus a lot on purple and blue hues so I’m looking forward to these colors. From top to bottom, meet Goddess blush and Amazon and Primal eyeshadows. I think Goddess will have to be mine.
The lip products look very intriguing as well. From left to right, meet Screenqueen lipstick and Raquel, Body Mind and Vital Spark lipglosses. For me, the lipsticks and lipglosses are always the best part of a collection so I am really looking forward to seeing the rest of these products. I think Body Mind may be mine as well. I’m also looking forward to seeing the new limited edition brushes, the 223 and 169. From what I’ve read, these are the same as the existing 222 and 168 brushes but they have that mixed striped hair to go along with the rest of the packaging for this collection. My 222 brushes needs to be replaced so this is a good excuse!
That’s not even the entire collection, you can catch a glimpse of it here. Thank you Specktra! Also, if you start clearing out your old makeup now, you could have enough for a free lipstick or lipgloss just in time for the new collection. MAC has updated their recycling policy and the Makeup Girl explains it all.
