Attack of the Killer Lashes

Ever since I read Kristen’s post about Lancome’s Fatale Mascara over at Beauty Addict, I’ve been lusting after it. When I bought it, I was so excited to try it that I stepped into a mall bathroom and put on even though my face was bare that day.

Lancome_fatale When I was done applying mascara, I stepped back and was in awe… my lashes looked amazing. I had never been able to make them look as big or as full as I had at that moment. I felt like I had found the magic mascara I was always looking for and I loved my results, I had amazing full, long and lush lashes. Then I passed it on to my friend and we spent the rest of the afternoon telling each other we couldn’t believe how our lashes looked, it rocked our world.

While it was love at first sight, at the same time, this product does require a bit of patience and a good application does take some work. Elke at Beauty News said it all very well, there’s really not a lot I can add to that… after all, she is the pro. This mascara is a little tricky to apply but I’m willing to be patient with this product because I believe in the results it can deliver. Every time I grab it, I try to think of a different way to use the product to get that perfect application. I haven’t perfected the process yet but I am very hopeful that I will soon. With results like these, it’s completely worthy of the work.

My New Best Friends: Pt. 3

Muradtoner Finally, my last new best friend is Murad’s Clarifying Toner. As someone with oily skin prone to breakouts, I have really enjoyed using this product. I like a strong toner and when I use this toner, I feel like it’s really taming my skin and reaching deep down to kill any bacteria at the core. I have to say, I have grown to like the quick menthol sting it gives me. I was once told that if it does not sting, it’s not doing it’s job. It can be a bit drying but if used as part of a regimen, it’s really not an issue. Some of us actually welcome a little dryness from time to tome. I often use this toner if my skin feels really oily and it does a fantastic job of cutting through the grime and leaving my skin refreshed. It’s not surprising that this product is part of the Acne Complex kit, it has really helped improve the appearance of my skin.

My New Best Friends: Pt. 2

Muradlip Now meet Murad’s Energizing Pomegranate Lip Therapy with SPF 15. Although it’s a lip treatment, this product’s shine almost makes you believe it’s a lip gloss. The glossy shine that it gives your lips is great and it has a nice light pink tint to it. To me, the consistency in this product is just right. It’s not really thick and goopy but it’s thick enough to make you feel like you’re really taking care of your lips. It does require some periodic reapplication but for those of us who always need some sort of product on our lips, it’s probably not a big deal. This contains pomegranate extract, UVA/UVB protection shea butter and salicylic acid to help exfoliate your lips… and I’m all about exfoliation.

For fun, If you’re really in a lip treatment/lip balm person, you should check out Chaptastic. I think I might submit a picture for their collection contest.

My New Best Friends: Pt. 1

I’ve started experimenting with Murad’s products and so far, there are 3 products that I have really come to rely on and love. These products have now become my staples, my can’t start the day without them products. I’ll be introducing them to you in the next few posts.

Muradmoisturizer Meet Murad’s Vitalic Energizing Pomegranate Moisturizer. This is a great product for someone with oily skin, which is my skin type. Finding a good light-weight yet effective moisturizer can be a challenge and this product lives up to it’s name.

This moisturizer is a little different than the previous ones I’ve tried though. The consistency of this product is somewhat runny and if you left this open for awhile, you would risk wasting some of the product but that is what I love about this moisturizer. Since it has a thin consistency, a little of this can go a very long way. It doesn’t feel heavy or greasy on my skin either, it’s light and absorbs quickly. I love the smell of pomegranate used in the product as well, it’s very fresh and as the name of the product suggests… energizing. I love that it has SPF 15 in it as well.

Creme de La Creme

I have been a perfume connoisseur for many years. As a kid, I would befriend everyone I possibly could at the Nordstrom’s perfume counter. I had it all dialed in and I had a gazillion samples, I even had a special hat box that I kept them in. I wish I would have kept all the things that I received back then because it would have been really interesting to show now. Lately, I’ve been especially curious about Bond No. 9 fragrances and was a little envious of those with local access to those fragrances. That’s when the fabulous Miss Blogdorf Goodman told me about La Creme and I’m so happy that she did.

I was completely surprised that such a place was in my own “backyard”, I could get there in 15 minutes if I needed a good perfume fix in a hurry. I was even more surprised to find this shop located only a few blocks away from one of my favorite shopping areas, University Village. I had a few expectations before walking into La Creme, I expected to find some of the same perfumes that I would find at Sephora or even Nordstrom’s or Macy’s but that’s not at all what I found.

Lacremeindoor01 I chose the wrong day to go to La Creme but that still didn’t take away from my experience. The shop’s owner Autumn, was friendly and greeted me immediately when I walked in. She told me the shop was closed but she let me look around for a bit when she really didn’t have to. When I looked around, I realized that almost everything in that shop was unfamiliar to me and I didn’t even know where to start. I was intrigued by all the beautiful things in the shop, and there were a lot of them. La Creme is more than just perfume, it also features other gifts like soaps, candles and other body products.

Lacremeindoor02 Upon seeing all these all these different fragrances, my first thought was that I do not know anything about them and I was a bit intimidated. One of the things I recognized in the shop was the Monyette Paris perfume oil that I had seen in a magazine one time. Autumn was amazing though, she immediately put me at ease and tried to explain how fragrances are described in a way I could easily relate to. She even introduced me to a few different fragrances. She was extremely helpful and answered all my questions.

Lacremeindoor03La Creme is a perfume lover’s dream come true. It’s perfume, soap, candles and other girlie goodness wrapped up into a package with a big pink bow on top. I loved the time I spent there chatting with Autumn, we discovered that we’re both MAC addicts and love the same makeup artist. I can’t wait to go back and really experience all this lovely shop has to offer and learn more about all these amazing perfumes. So far I’ve discovered I’m completely in love with Serge Lutens’ Clair de Muse. Next time I visit, that bottle will be mine. In the meantime, every Seattle area resident should pay Autumn a visit, the store is open 11am to 5:30pm, Monday through Saturday.

Besame, Besame Mucho

When I first saw products from Besame Cosmetics, I was immediately drawn to them. I assumed that their attention to detail in the packaging would translate over to the actual products. Luckily, my assumption was correct. Not only do their products have a retro vintage charm to them, but they’re pretty good as well.

Face_rouge_img The first product I tried was Boudoir Rouge in Sun Kissed. This is a gorgeous peach tone blush that is soft and silky to the touch. Also, this is a very pigmented product and a little of this went a long way. For a fair gal like myself, this product can give skin a natural soft glow without looking too made up. Also, once the actual product is gone, you can keep the compact and use it for something else. I predict this will make a lovely pill box someday.

Face_loose_powder_img Next came the Feather Light Dusting Powder. Oh how I love this product. I’ve been using this translucent powder on top of my foundation non-stop since I got it and I grow to love it a little more each day. It does not leave my skin looking cakey at all, it just gives a smooth matte appearance that lasts. This makes a great blotting powder as well, I would make any excuse to this sweet vanilla scented powder.

Lip_enchanting_lipstick_img_1 It may look a bit like a bullet but it’s just a throwback to the vintage glamor that Besame is all about. Their Enchanting Lipstick another gem in this line. I tried this lipstick in Chocolate Kiss, a rich brown semi-matte lipstick. This color has now replaced my beloved MAC Paramount lipstick. As a big fan of this texture, I was happy to find that this did not dry my lips out. The color remained creamy for quite awhile. While the tip is a bit different, it’s actually convenient. It allows the lipstick to almost function like a lip-liner and line your lips with it.

I also briefly played with some of their other products. Overall, their products are well pigmented and I loved them. Check out their samples, it’s a great way to try the line.
