I'll Be Back Tomorrow

I’m going to be a little late with today’s podcast, it will actually be posted tomorrow. I’m still working on it and have been doing some research, in addition to taking a few days off from work, so I’ll be back tomorrow with a new episode. When I get back, I’ll be back with a review of Besame Cosmetics and my own perfume adventure in Seattle. For now, enjoy these videos that have been making the rounds from Elke at The Beauty Newsletter:

Oh My Nars

Narsfall2006 I’ve been slacking a bit lately… I should have said something about this much, much sooner considering this is one of my favorite lines. Nars has come out with fabulous new products for Fall 2006 and I’m drooling. Actually, I’m about to head out the door for a “research” trip to all my usual stops so I will be playing with this today and loving every single minute of it. I haven’t even seen these products in person yet but I have a feeling they will be good, it’s Nars, how could it not be?

I’m sure these places think I’m a weirdo when they see me taking notes and swatches of color trailing up my arms because my hands are full.

Nars_color_fall2006 Nars has released two new eyeshadow duos, a new blush, a new lipgloss, a new lipstick and two new Velvet Matte Lip Pencils, I’m a huge fan of these lip pencils. One of these is a mandatory purchase for me as one of them shares part of my name. As for eyeshadow, I’ve got my eye on the duo on the right, Bohemian Gold. it’s just calling my name saying “buy me, buy me”. I’m not sure about the lip gloss, I’m kind of lip gloss’ed out but the beautiful caramel pink coloring is certainly gorgeous. The new lipstick is certainly worth a look, with it’s rich berry color, it will be a hot color for the fall. I don’t think Nars has ever disappointed me with it’s products so I’m sure I’ll love this just as much in person… but I’ll let you know later.

Hydro Powder Power

Shiseidohydropowder Shiseido’s Hydro-Powder Eye Shadow is a fabulous product and I think everyone should play with this at least once just. While this eyeshadow goes on like a cream, it dries to a powdery finish that helps this eyeshadow last much longer than most other similar eyeshadows… creasing is almost a thing of the past with this product. This product comes in 5 gorgeous shades but my favorite by far is Tiger Eye, a beautiful shimmery bronze color. If you’re looking for a sheer wash of color or a bold look, the difference is all in the application.

Product Girl Podcast #8: Drugstore Roundup

Chinesedress In this podcast’s 8th episode, I talk about my favorite drugstore products from Revlon, Loreal, Max Factor, Maybeline, Rimmel, NYX, Milani and Wet ‘n Wild to name a few…

Upcoming MAC Collections

Since MAC is my first love, I thought I’d share some information on upcoming collections you will see at your local counter or store towards the end of summer and into fall. I’m really excited about it, there are some great things coming up and if you’re an eyeshadow fiend like me, you’ll love it.

Allure Before we get into this though, I want to give a shout out to all the ladies who are featured in the August issue of Allure. I only wish I could be in there with ya. Check them out:

And the story is mentioned on the cover, how great is that? If you’re interested in reading the story, you can find it here, here and here.

I'm An Individualist

Esteelauder_individualist I have experimented a bit with different foundations and I tend to rotate them as well. Although, sometimes I prefer to wear something a bit sheerer than usual… like today, when the temperature will get as high as 94. Estee Lauder’s Individualist Natural Finish Makeup lives up to it’s name and gives me the natural finish that I’m looking for.

This foundation is really easy to work with, it’s even good to use with your fingers. I can just pat it on with my fingertips and away I go. It’s very light and spreads around like a dream, just a little of this can go a long way. I love that I can wear this and it doesn’t look like I have a lot on, it’s almost like this is what my skin should look like if I wasn’t wearing foundation. A girl can dream I guess.

A Tale of Two Perfumes

Some fragrances are not always wearable year round, for me and maybe for quite a few of you as well, the perfume I wear will vary based on the season. Meet one of my summer loves and one of my future fall loves.

Tresor_sheer_1 Tresor Sheer is a new twist on a Lancome classic fragrance. When I first smelled this perfume, I was a little surprised that there wasn’t more of the classic Tresor fragrance in this perfume but I did like what I was smelling. Tresor Sheer is cheery floral fragrance that is somewhat reminiscent of the original Tresor. It features fruity notes of black currant, clementine and red currant and then floral notes of camellia and peach flower. To finish it off, it also has a soft touch of musk that features sandalwood, cedarwood and a hint of vanilla. All in all, this is a very sultry floral fragrance.

Hypnose_1 Fall will be here before you know it and Hypnose will be in heavy rotation at that time. It’s not a new fragrance, it was only introduced in February of this year but there’s a very good reason why this is already a Lancome best seller… it smells amazing! I was drooling over this perfume for weeks before it came out, wishing the Lancome counter wouldn’t tease me with it. With notes of passion flower, vanilla and jasmine, this is a great warmer fragrance for fall when temperatures begin to cool down. I can’t help but feel a little alluring when I put this on.

Morning After Hair

Yuki Sharoni

I have to admit that haircare is not my forte, I don’t have a fascination with my hair. I’d rather focus on my skin. I leave the hair thing to my sister, she’s the go to hair girl in the family. But for once, it was I who introduced her to something good.

I’ve been using Yuki Sharoni’s products for awhile now and I have been very pleased with the results. Yuki’s Morning After Shampoo gives you a great lather with a fabulous lemony scent. It doesn’t completely rob your hair of all it’s moisture either, I sometimes even skip the conditioner. If you’re in the mood for some good conditioner lovin’ though, Yuki’s Back to Life Conditioner does an excellent job of giving even the thickest hair (that would be mine) a touch of softness. Also, these products have some very convenient packaging, I love these bottles. Aren’t they cute? I’m not the only who thinks so. Someone also happens to think Yuki is very handsome. Yeah, ok… he is.

Ingredient of the Moment: Pomegranate

I’m willing to try pretty much anything with the word “tea” in it. Then when you add an ingredient like pomegranate to the mix, I’m so there! I’ll take pomegranate where ever I can get it, frappuccinos, moisturizer, it does not matter.

Bodybalm Lotus Skincare has created a great body balm that combines these two ingredients and leaves your skin with a moisturized yet silky powdery feel. As the website says, this body balm is very lightweight and very emollient but the best part about this is the scent. Lotus has done a great job of pairing a delicate scent like Green Tea with one as powerful and energizing as pomegranate. They also do a great job of pairing grapefruit with pear, a scent this product is also available in. This cute little tin has taken a spot on my desk, it’s a great way to moisturize my hands while I’m working and it doesn’t leave them greasy at all.

Greentealipbalm As an added bonus, they also have co-ordinating lip balms in both scents and as well as papaya and ginger lime coconut. You’re taken care of from head to toe. You can find this product as well as other lip balms at Lotus Skincare, check them out.
